The MOST Disliked Episode of VOYAGER - Final Part...

Phew, this tough. I'm not crazy about either of these honestly, but even Janeway getting laid can't save Spirit Folk. Or maybe it can... Favorite Son I can hardly recall it was so bland. Ok, it's a game of chance, hang on...

... the people on the commuter train are now not thrilled with me, but Spirit Folk gets a point.

FAVORITE SON - 1
SPIRIT FOLK - 1

Agreed that this is tough. They're both so terrible! I'll also give a point to "Spirit Folk." I suppose I have a bit of a soft spot for even the worst holodeck stories (which this probably is -- I can't think of any that underperform it!).

Also, Kim is in a three-way tie for me as Trek's worst character (with Chakotay and Mayweather), and Garrett Wang is Trek's biggest casting mistake, so I can get behind his turn as Space Jesus as Voyager's biggest failure.

FAVORITE SON - 1
SPIRIT FOLK - 2

Spirit Folk is bad, but Favorite Son is my least favorite episode of Voyager.

FAVORITE SON - 1
SPIRIT FOLK - 3

SPIRIT FOLK - 4 (I kind of like it :o)
FAVORITE SON - 1 (Garrett was way better shown in 'Timeless').

So the big winner is "Favorite Son" then. It's a monument to bad storytelling and bad acting (where did they get these "actresses"?). But at least it isn't racist like "Tatoo". I was certain that "Tatoo" would win. Well, at least it's my third least liked episode that won. It could have been worse.

It's quite an interesting read about Favorite Son on Memory Alpha. Apparently Harry was going to remain permanently alien. Then it would seem too many writers got in the mix and the whole story lost its focus. Garrett sounded really disappointed in it.

Just to add it's been really interesting seeing how this came to its result - based on all of us having an input as opposed to each of us picking our least favorite episode of the entire series.

My least favorite is 'Prey'.

Wait, Tattoo is racist? Does that make people who voted for it racist from your perspective?

You cut me to the quick.

I voted for it because I saw it as Erich von Däniken inspired nonsense.

Exocitism is a form of soft racism. No, liking the episode does not make you racist.

Looks like my prediction of a 'Kim gets a girl' episode winning came true. Looked bad for a second when Favorite Son had 3 votes but it came through.

Definitely one of the most deserving episodes of this title.

The 'winner' of STAR TREK: VOYAGER for Most Disliked Episode of 2018 goes to "FAVORITE SON"... I suppose that him the least favored son.

This was a really interesting ending to this series. Thank you all for voting. This was fun.

I will be starting STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE in a few minutes. I expect THAT game to be very interesting, as well. Especially the first two seasons.

I said that the episode had racist undertones (or at least that's what I meant to say) that doesn't reflect on people who might like it for some other reasons, although I have a hard time imagining what those reasons could be.

About the racism: It's well-known that the American continent has been colonized very late, no more than 30 or 40 thousand years ago. Suggesting that the ancestors of some of the Native Americans didn't have a language of their own back then is preposterous and insulting. Plus in case you didn't notice the people in the episode, though "alien", are conspicuously Caucasians... So it's white people teaching the Native Americans to speak!!!

What I find bothersome about it is the way their entire exploration of the Native American condition is through exploring its mysticism. Spirit animals, spirit boards, the one tribe that still adheres to 15th century living standards in the 24th century. They pose the image that the entirety of what is uniquely Native American lies in its mysticism and living in teepees in the woods, and don't show any Native Americans that carry their identity into the modern world. And Tattoo is the tip of that particular iceberg.
