The Most Disliked Episode of TNG - Season 6...

Farscape One

Admiral
Admiral
This is a twist on a game that is played here, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your most favorite or the one you deem the 'best.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win. Pretty simple. Enjoy!

I will start by saving "Chain Of Command, Part II". The acting of Patrick Stewart in this episode should have gotten him an Emmy. One of the best performances of the series by him, and David Warner was a very memorable Gul Madred.

My estimation of season 6 has plummeted in the last few years but there are some good episodes to save. I always liked Ship In A Bottle, the long overdue sequel to Elementary, Dear Data.

"Timescape" is incredibly satisfying. It's the platonic ideal of the "we've encountered some kind of anomaly!" episode -- it's perfectly crafted, it's exciting, it uses the characters well, and it does all this without really being "about" anything -- usually the weird-space-anomaly plotlines feel like empty filler, but this one doesn't. Definitely one of my top TNG eps.

I'll save "Starship Mine". It's "Die Hard With Picard" and a great bottle episode. Some things about it don't make sense: why would Starfleet subcontract an apparently vital aspect of starship maintenance to a less-than trustworthy species and how come no one seems to know what trilithium is after that (and now it can stop fusion in a star)? But still, the cast is good and it was super fun.

I'm going to go against the grain and save Man of The People. Why? Because it is entertaining. I like shows where people under go rapid transformations. It features one of Marina Sirtis's best performances.

Speaking of fantastic Troi turns... "Face Of The Enemy"! Such a goddamn excellent episode, it took me 20 years to notice the setup makes no sense.

I think I just realized season 6 has become my favorite year of TNG. With the sole exceptions of "The Quality Of Life" and (ugh) "Birthright", every other episode this season falls somewhere on the like-to-love continuum for me.

Relics is an example of how to do a nostalgia-fest episode right, and is worth saving for the scene on the TOS bridge alone.

I love both Q episodes this season. I'll save Tapestry first as it's a great look at a younger, more brash Picard.

I looooooooooove "Time's Arrow." Everything about it, both parts, the whole thing. As a viewer who originally discovered Trek during season 5, this is my BOBW. My only complaint is that it wasn't a 3-parter.

I'm going to save "Schisms." Not only is the abduction plot creepy and memorable, this is also where we get "Ode to Spot."

My second save of the season will be "Lessons". I love the call back to Inner Light and it was great to see a different side of Picard here. I liked Darren; she seemed to be a good companion for him and was strong in her own right. The resolution of the episode is a little sudden and pat for me, and I hate that she just kind of vanishes, but it was still a good episode.

"Suspicions" Yes, it's a bit ridiculous, but it's fun. I love the Guinan framing sequence and Crusher getting to do some different stuff.
