The MOST Disliked Episode of STAR TREK - Season 3...

THAT WHICH SURVIVES survives. As the score plays over Losira's recorded message there is a second or two of genuine pathos... sorta.

AND THE CHILDREN SHALL LEAD
IS THERE IN TRUTH NO BEAUTY?
FOR THE WORLD IS HOLLOW AND I HAVE
TOUCHED THE SKY
PLATO'S STEPCHILDREN
THE EMPATH
ELAAN OF TROYIUS
WHOM GODS DESTROY
LET THAT BE YOUR LAST BATTLEFIELD
THE MARK OF GIDEON
THE LIGHTS OF ZETAR
THE WAY TO EDEN
THE CLOUD MINDERS
THE SAVAGE CURTAIN
TURNABOUT INTRUDER

I see a few more than half a dozen worth saving, but I chose ALL OUR YESTERDAYS to start out with as it's also got the fewest problems.

It's a lovely story when everything is considered. True, it remains unexplained how Spock DE-evolves yet McCoy does not. Maybe Vulcans have a thing going on with the space/time continuum. Maybe Q was having a field day. Who knows.
Not to derail, but I’ve never understood this criticism of AOY, and I agree that your alternative explanations are plausible. For me, though, Vulcan mysticism is elastic enough that nominal touch-telepaths can sense things at a distance–sometimes a very great distance, indeed:
SPOCK: Doctor, even I, a half-Vulcan, could hear the death scream of four hundred Vulcan minds crying out over the distance between us.
MCCOY: Not even a Vulcan could feel a starship die.
SPOCK: Call it a deep understanding of the way things happen to Vulcans, but I know not a person, not even the computers on board the Intrepid, knew what was killing them or would have understood it had they known.
-“The Immunity Syndrome”
So the notion that Vulcans are part of a galaxy-spanning telepathic field that that could affect an individual’s emotional suppression bothers me not one whit.

I’ve been waiting a long time to get that off my chest. Thanks for listening. Carry on with the disliking festivities.

"The Empath" gives me some positive feelings. It doesn't make a lot of sense on some levels, but I like the eerie, arty quality of it. And as an old De Kelley fangirl, I also appreciate the way McCoy seized the chance to save both his friends.

"WHOM GODS DESTROY" is being saved. I always had a soft spot for this episode. The over the topness of Garth, 'Kirk' having his tantrum on the floor... it's really a fun episode, and rather dark when you think about it.

"Elaan of Troyius" is safe. I love the cat-and-mouse battle against the Klingons (this one is so often overlooked for some reason), and the random, deadpan Klingon Commander is frigging awesome.

"Prepare to be boarded or destroyed..."

After carefully examining the remaining episodes, I chose the hollow world one just because it has the longest title in TOS history. Really though, the Oracle said I would be punished if I didn't obey.

Time to save "PLATO'S STEPCHILDREN" . One of my favourite episodes. I can't understand the hate or maybe I can but I'm tough enough to stand the embarrassing scenes.

Has some really great character moments.

I love Turnabout Intruder. Shatner did a good job and it was a tense story.

I'm placing my bet on either the Gorgan or the Space Hippies being the biggest loser.

The Savage Curtain. As silly as Space Lincoln and the black-and-white morality on display was, it nonetheless did some important worldbuilding with the inclusion of Surak and Kahless.

THE MARK OF GIDEON
THE LIGHTS OF ZETAR

"The Cloud Minders" is safe up in the sky. The class warfare stuff is solid and there are no major plotholes.

"IS THERE IN TRUTH NO BEAUTY?" is safe. Diana Muldaur gave a wonderful performance, as did Nimoy when he was Kollos.

"The Way to Eden" is heading out...
(besides the farther I get from the 60s the less it reminds me of hippies and the more it reminds me of Charles Manson, Jim Jones and David Koresh.)

I like how there's an abundance of crewmen and extras in Children, even if they are all incompetent, so I'm saving it.

THE MARK OF GIDEON

And there you have it. @Farscape One , will a poll for the most disliked TOS episode ever be posted?

I must admit I enjoyed this exercise more than I expected. Thanks!

"THE MARK OF GIDEON" is the most disliked episode of season 3.

I will be posting a final part shortly, as well as an Animated Series Most and Least Disliked contest.

Thank you all for participating. I have been really enjoying doing these.

Everyone, please go to the season 2 thread.

I need opinions on how to choose the Runner-Up there for the Final thread.
