*RULES*

Give what you consider to be the best/your most favorite episode ONE point, and briefly explain WHY. Be sure to copy and paste the list with your point added. When an episode reaches 4 points, it is eliminated. Then a NEW round begins (in this thread) with the numbers restored to 0. Vote ONCE per round. And enjoy! :bolian:

My first point goes to "THE DARKNESS AND THE LIGHT". It was a tense episode, with a lot of great scenes... Nog's acute hearing, Furel and Lupaza with Kira, Kira describing the courage of her friend who passed information, the scenes with Prin. This should not have made it to the last round of DS9.

"The Darkness And The Light" also immediately jumps out to me as the one that does not belong. I think one scene is terribly blocked and I think the actual killing of Furel & Lupaza is gratuitous, otherwise it's an exhilarating, tense episode.

Giving a point to Crossfire. I'm not sure how it was last chosen in it's season, but it clearly has the strongest acting of all the episodes on this list. It's a great dissection of obsession, and if it makes people squirm, I think they should get over it.

Another vote for The Darkness and the Light. I enjoyed seeing Kira's resistance friends from Shakaar, and I thought the whole episode was quite tense.

As much as I loathe the episode's ending, I will admit that The Darkness and the Light had several things going for it before that point, which is more than can be said for all but one or two of the other episodes here. So, I will save it.

And I will give the first point of the new round to Indiscretion, which is an overall well-done character piece for Dukat, even if they do make him and Kira seem a bit too pally to be believable at points.

My point this round goes to "INDISCRETION". Kira/Dukat episodes have always been really good ones, as they both steal every scene they are in. Both actors and characters are highly engaging, whether working together or ready to kill each other. And the Sisko/Kasidy is a fun B story, and was a good step forward for Ben.

I will also do "Indiscretion" this round. There's 5, maybe 6, episodes on this list that I would find to be deserving "winners", and all the rest I like to semi-like. My issues with "Indiscretion" are that it swings Dukat too far into good guy territory given his backstory, and that Ziyal is set up wrong for where they ultimately go with her -- but if I narrow my focus to just this episode and nothing beyond it, no real complaints.

That was fast for "Indiscretion"! And I'll do "Crossfire" this round. The biggest problem is Shakaar, he's so dramatically inert a character that any story that substantially involves him is compromised. But the main Odo story is compelling.

I'll vote for Crossfire too. I quite like seeing Odo losing his professional disposition knowing Kira and Shakaar were together. I would have voted for Indiscretion as well but it was saved so quickly!

"CROSSFIRE" is my vote this round. A great look at how love and obsession can really alter your life. And the Odo/Quark scenes are excellent... among their very best.

And it gets saved by me.

My next vote goes to "IF WISHES WERE HORSES". A very novel concept for an alien species. I've always enjoyed the episode.

This time I'll do "Q-Less." It's gimmicky, but I remember young me being excited that Q & Vash would be appearing on DS9. The auction aliens are fun.

I'll give a point to "Playing God." While there were a lot of weaknesses in the episode, I did enjoy seeing Dax interacting with a Trill candidate for joining. It brought out a lot more of her character, including her flaws. And while handled in a somewhat ham-fisted way, the questions the episode evoked were intriguing and the sorts of things good sci fi makes you ponder.

Hmm. I think Time's Orphan, whilst a bit repetitive with some of the scenes, has some nice moments with the O'Brien family struggling to get on with their new situation. I also love seeing Worf looking after Yoshi.

@Seven of Five , you're posting while tired again. :bolian::beer: You accidentally re-added "Crossfire" and dropped the point for "Playing God", just reposting list below...

Playing God has a few good character interactions, and the Proto-Universe idea is at least an interesting one, so I'll give it a point.
