Game The Most Disliked Episode Directed By Les Landau

Saving "SANCTUARY".

Universal translator failure is so incredibly rare in STAR TREK, and I'm glad it happened here... a race from the other side of the galaxy.

TNG Season 4: "Half a Life"
TNG Season 5: "Conundrum"
TNG Season 7: "Dark Page"
TNG Season 7: "Bloodlines"
DS9 Season 7: "Image in the Sand"
ENT Season 1: "Sleeping Dogs"

I love Image In The Sand. I've saved it before and I'll quite happily do it again. The station was somewhat shaken up after Jadzia's death, and Sisko leaving for Earth. I

also love the Sisko family chemistry.

TNG Season 4: "Half a Life"
TNG Season 5: "Conundrum"
TNG Season 7: "Dark Page"
TNG Season 7: "Bloodlines"

How did "Half a Life" make it this far? (Only because I was busy yesterday, obviously.) Timicin was thoroughly likable and his predicament poignant, and this was perhaps the first time I felt real warmth and respect for Lwaxana.

Huh, these all kind of leave me cold to some degree, though I don't totally hate any of them -- they're all at least OK. I guess I'll save "Bloodlines", because I am somewhat amused by the sheer wackiness of the premise.

Well, let me be clear, I respect your right to disagree with me. But the answer is... well, beecause "Half a Life" is a pile of putrid rotting garbage. If I had it, Code of Honor, and Threshold in front of me, and a Delete Episode From Canon gun with two shots in it...
I'd shoot "Half a Life" and "Code of Honor", because I don't believe in wasting ammo.

Yes. Profit and Lace is also appalling, but deleting it would be almost pointless because it's a part of a greater whole.

It was next on my list, actually... :techman:

On top of Lwaxana getting some of the meatiest substance in Trek's history, Majel Barrett not only carries it, but she excels. There's a great talk on ageism and ritual suicide - but not in the typical sense. The episode is steeping in character drama, but something elevates it above maudlin treacle - something that's not easy to do. A dark episode for sure, the core concepts almost seem something out of "The Twilight Zone" as they did moral plays too, but this episode takes the spin to a new and more relatable level, which has its own ups and downs...

Almost heavy-handed, it doesn't get too far and remains strong.

The scene also doubles for the chic epitome of "helicopter hair". Everyone in the room easily acts their way around it. The script and acting carry the power and layered complexity of both loving the individual and the desire to change a disturbing tradition and when I mentioned heavy-handed, there's a lot that truly is.

At least the story didn't try to outdo Carousel, which only makes this even more interesting - as if "Logan's Run" wasn't.

There's a lot of talented people in that scene. Also, not until the blu-ray did I notice her red highlights.

Darn good episode, IMHO & YMMV, even if it's drama-driven within a veneer of sci-fi trappings. Sci-fi can and arguably should do that once in a while, especially if it's tastefully done and leaving the horror to the viewer to think about.

Half Life is my favourite Lwaxana episode. It's a shame Dark Page didn't get saved. It has some annoying elements in it, like the face that the guest star kept making whenever he was trying to make a connection to Lwaxana. It was very distracting, but the rest of the episode is pretty decent.
