THE OBJECTIVE: A sudden-death elimination game in which we remove our personal favorite episodes from a themed list, until we arrive at the episode that is, if not the worst, at least the most disliked.

THE RULES: Below is a list of episodes from TNG, DS9, VOY, and ENT directed by Les Landau. Trek's third most prolific director!

Eliminate/save your favorite, or the one you deem the ‘best.’
Post something you love about the episode you are saving, and copy-and-paste the list with your choice removed.

You can use any standard you like to judge which option is "best." You can save episodes for being widely recognized “best Trek” classics, or for idiosyncratic qualities that no one appreciates but you.

[Farscape One]

I'm going to start with his first one in the franchise, "The Arsenal of Freedom".

Great action, great pace, great story... and EVERYONE got utilized well. Even Troi came across as doing her job well. This was also a great Geordi story... and I always felt this situation was why Picard later made him chief engineer. Geordi proved himself to be an effective leader, keeping a cool head in a battle while mentoring younger officers and dealing with an insubordinate Lt. Logan. Arguably the most important job on a starship, being chief engineer called for all these traits, and he had them in spades here.

B'Elanna learning that as chief engineer she has to be responsible and she can't just do what she wants, Tuvok using logic to justify trying to do what he thought Janeway wanted but she didn't actually want, Seska might just be trying to get home or might also be trying to cause some chaos.

Chain of Command II is the classic TNG episode, with Patrick Stewart in his usual fine form, playing the shell of Picard after his torture at the hands of Gul Madred. It's a great watch, if tough during the Picard scenes.

Jellico in charge of the Enterprise is its own kind of awesome, ruffling the feathers of the crew, who are used to a different approach.

The O'Briens story is great. I've come to love it more and more as I've gotten older, particularly since being married.

I recently gave "Sins Of The Father" a full-attention-rewatch for the first time in forever, and damn did I love it! Was that our first time ever on Kronos? It really satisfied. I also forgot how awesome Kahlest was.

VOY Season 5: "Counterpoint" Excellent episode. The interplay and chemistry between Janeway and Kashyk is top notch.

You know, I always haaaaaaaaaated this one -- I caused A LOT of controversy one year by eliminating it early in the "Least Disliked Voyager Season 5" game, where you're eliminating the eps you hate instead of the ones you love -- until watching along with the Delta Flyers podcast recently, it suddenly clicked with me for the first time. Still not a favorite, but I liked it, I saw the appeal finally.

They're all Tuvok. He went undercover with A LOT of criminal organizations before the Maquis. If only Voyager had featured Tuvok's chameleonic abilities more...

Tapestry is such a fun episode. Seeing Picard having regrets about when he was younger is nicely played. As was the moment where he's changed his past and they skip back, only to see he is only a lieutenant. Be careful what you wish for, guys.
