The more I read about this film...

...and read the reviews from people who have viewed it, the less I want to see it. This is clearly something for a younger generation. You see it clearly in the foul language from the actors and the way people making reviews talk, e.g., "the chick who plays Uhura..." Forget that.

The only thing that will get me to see this movie is confirmation of either Shatner being it it, or ENT referencs. If Shatner is not in it, shame on Nimoy for doing this without him. Nimoy would be nothing without Shatner, and he knows it, and you all know it, too.

Is it possible I miss Rick Berman? Oh, the humanity of even the thought...

I'm looking very much forward to seeing the movie with my soon-to-be 16 year old son... so I can't relate to your "younger generation" quip, nor to the Shatner exclusion.

I really don't get how you can deduce that by the language of the reviewers. And in the case that you've pointed out, that's just how the "reviewer" (Smith) speaks. Besides, "chick" has been around just as long as "broad." Would it have made you feel better if he said "the broad playing Uhura."

Yes, lets live in the past.

No point it trying to make this thing successful again. Lets not try and open it out to a wider audience. Lets focus on the core fanbase who turned out in force for the last movie.

Star Trek is a niche market.

Bring on the TV-movies.

I would prefer that the new film NOT refer to the Enterprise series at all. In 1981-82 the makers of The Wrath of Khan correctly decided to do a proper reboot by having Kirk at a desk job, same as at the start of The Motion Picture, and by explicitly avoiding any reference to the earlier film. Can't have a successful reboot unless you ignore (in my opinion, quite justifiably) others' version of the early Trek universe.

As for Shatner, I don't care. Generations was already excessively story-warped to include him as Kirk; one such movie is enough. Also, he's too much in the public eye as an actor and as "himself", whereas Nimoy hasn't acted on screen in years.

Which is quite an ironic statement considering The Wrath of Khan is a sequel to a TOS episode.

Nudity. Needs nudity.
Oh God yes! Jennifer Morrison is in there for a reason ... ;)

I don't understand how one could connect the manner of speaking of a reviewer with the quality of the film. The reviewer (in this case Kevin Smith) has nothing whatsoever to do with the production of this film.

There is no correlation between the words Kevin Smith used to describe the film and the film's quality.

I am specifically going to see this movie because of the broad that plays Uhura. As skirts go, she's hot. And that's what a dame is good for: being hot.

Yes indeed. A lot about TWOK is ironic - in particular that its makers decided to please the fans (with a sequel to a 15-year-old episode) and ended up pleasing a wider group, whereas the makers of TMP tried to please everyone (even going for a G rating) and ended up not pleasing very many at all by comparison.

Why not? Shatner did a Star Trek film without Nimoy, so why not the other way around? I actually thought BermanTrek was good, it was good entertainment by a long shot. I would rather watch BermanTrek over American Idol or any of the other crappy shows that are on now, maybe except for a few that are on The CW.

I like that one Scotty episode that had no one else of his crew except for Scotty. What was it called again? Oh yeah, Scotty Did An Episode Without The Rest of His Crew. And it was pretty good.

If Doohan can do it, I don't see why Nimoy can't. And as was already said, Shatner did a movie without Nimoy anyway. Double-standard, much?
