The Monster of Phantom Lake

The last couple of days I just watched some really great comedy films. "It Came From Another World!" and "The Monster of Phantom Lake." I don't know if anyone on this forum has seen them, but especially with "It Came From Another World" was just plain hilarious. The way the characters acted and the satire. I won't say much yet for those who haven't seen them :)

I haven't seen them but I'm pretty sure one of the guys involved in making them has posted here before.

Edit:

Captain Euphoria - I think this is the guy.

It's possible. His avatar is the "monster" in The Monster of Phantom Lake. I would suggest watching one of these films, if you want to see a good comedy. I read a website of these films (I don't have the link at this moment) that Denise Crosby from TNG was actually involved with one of the films, I believe it is "Cave Women From Mars." I haven't seen that one yet, but I'm sure it's as good as the others.

I can't find a match for Denise Crosby with any of Mihm's films, but the trailer for Cave Women is... well, it's right here.

The info for Denise Crosby is here http://www.sainteuphoria.com/index.html

I don't know if she is in the film, but I think she had something do to with it.

Barring Christopher showing up to reply (um, where are you, Captain? lol) I'm probably the resident expert on this series of films.

The Monster of Phantom Lake was the first in the series, and is a parody/homage to classic 50s sci-fi and horror films. Its sequel, It Came From Another World, features two characters from the first movie not too terribly long after the first film.

The third film, Cave Women on Mars was released earlier this year, and takes place in the "far distant future" of the 1980s. Only one of the regulars plays the same character in this film, but others do make welcome returns. One of the new characters is played by Brooke ... People here would remember her as William Shatner's love interest in his Invasion Iowa series.

Now, here's where it gets fun, cuz I play a role in the events ...

I went to a screening of the first movie as part of a film festival in Omaha. The movie blows me away and I go hardcore bonkers over it, and very quickly snatch up the second movie on dvd. I travel all over to these film festivals to see them on the big screen, and keep in contact with Christopher, who wrote, directed, acts, and sings in the first two movies. (he doesn't sing in the third one, but still does voiceovers)

A group called OSFES in Omaha (Omaha Science Fiction Education Society) decides to start a convention, and they're looking for guests. They book Claudia Christian. I move back to Omaha in July 2007, and sort of join their group. I suggest Chris and the gang. By the time the con will happen, he'll have three films, and I've already talked with him about it, he's loving the idea of coming down.

Flash forward a year. Claudia's backed out because she is now filming her own reality series, and Denise Crosby is her replacement. Because I pushed the Osfes peeps, they have brought the gang down as guests, and Christopher meets Denise. Sparks fly, harps play, and ... ok, might be kidding about that bit. Anyway, they've met and I understand Denise is now very much looking forward to working with Christopher in one of his upcoming films.

Am I looking forward to it? Um, yeah. I'll be at the premiere of number 4, no matter which one it ends up being (either Terror From Beneath the Earth or the Canoe Corps Movie) .

They have a monthly newsletter on the website - http://www.monsterofphantomlake.com/newsletter.html - and you can keep up to date there.

I'm here! I'm here! Over a month late but I made it!

First off, thank you DarkShadow0001 for your kind words. I'm very happy to hear that you enjoyed my movies. Have you checked out "Cave Women on Mars" yet?

Also, good to see you again former OmahaStar, The Gill-Man.

To clear up, Denise Crosby was not involved in "Cave Women on Mars," nor is she signed up for any future films (YET). I am currently filming the newest movie, "Terror from Beneath the Earth," of which I actually have the opening credits AND first scene DONE. It does a good job of setting up the movie and I'm considering posting it online for people to see as a special "Halloween treat." What do you guys think? Good idea? Bad idea?

I've got a temporary holiday name change ... You might notice a *lot* of people around here doing temp names, but our regular names are listed in the "location" field. Or they should be. Good to see you, too! Sorry I couldn't make it up to the triple feature ... work kept me here.

Who is in this one? I know Mike K. will be there, he's in all of them. But what about Danny?

This is not Animaniacs with the "Good Idea/Bad Idea" schtick. This is the Mihmverse, so of course it's a good idea!

I'll also have you know, you owe me. :P

I have a few of the posters up in my cube at work, plus the badges. I also have the calendar hanging up, but in the area just inside my cube where people normally can't see it, but right at eye level (for the dates, thank you very much).

I had two upper managers here yesterday staring at that darned calendar, and one of them asked "Isn't that the wrong kind of picture for you, Mitch?" () ... I had to explain they were connected, the posters and calendar and such. The other one went "What? They were filmed back in the 50s?" ... 20 minutes later, they have both ordered all three dvds.

:bolian:

So, when do we get a Men of Shadow Creek calendar, hmmmm?

A few months back, I ordered Cave Women on Mars from Amazon. Fun stuff!

If you haven't done so yet, watch it with the subtitles on. And pay attention to them. There's always fun, extra stuff thrown in there. That's all I'm gonna say about that. ;)

Just for you guys, here's a nice little teaser image from the new movie, "Terror from Beneath the Earth."

*raised eyebrow* What's going on with Liz there? And those look like claws. Definitely not the Monster, not anyone from Mars ... Hmmm, a new creature? Interesting ...

Oh no! Literally hundreds of people watched it and even sent me emails about how cool they thought it was. I'm sorry you couldn't see it. I guess you'll just be that much more surprised at the premiere next year!

Oh yeah? What makes you think I'd drive all the way up to Minnesota just to see a movie? *grin*
