The MKI EMH

I'd blame Barclay for the chance of sentience. He spent too much time in the Enterprise-D's holodeck. And that place was messed up and full of overly developed sentient programs. He thought it was normal.

So even though Barclay had been sober for years, you still think that the underlying problems effected inescapable emotional issues?

I have a theory that Pete didn't like his sister much because she might have been an even more massive mess than Reg was.

I don't understand how Reg is not treated like a Rockstar?

He travelled through time to watch Zephram Cochrane take a leak.

There's no way that that anecdote is not worth a dozen blowjobs.

It would be hilarious if the EMH's human wife went into a 12 Steps program to get over her holodeck addiction and he came along to support her.

That is hilariously meta. :)

Imagine she figured it out like Fairhaven or Moriarty... And then becomes enraged when he admits that he isn't real either.

It's like in Bruce Almighty when God redirected all those prayers to Bruce's email account.

All is fine with the EMH at the holo-addiction meeting as her support until it somehow slips out that he is, in fact, a hologram. Everyone is aghast. It's like bringing a fifth of bourbon to AA and holding it up to your face, slurring.. but this is my support!

"Oh no, let me explain, this is sentient alcohol. It's fine, really, it's wonderfully supportive."

Let me see if I understand this. The Doctor's holographic wife from "Real Life" goes to a Holoaddict's Anonymous meeting in a holodeck simulation, and can't handle it because the EMH is a hologram? What's she going to do when she finds out the same thing about everyone in her support group?

No. This is the human wife the doctor had in Endgame. She knows he is a hologram. She has holo-addiction and goes to the 12 steps meeting and brings along her husband as support. Of course THIS hologram is different she tells them when they realize her support person is a hologram, he is sentient!

Everyone in the room suddenly realizes they can have their addiction and eat it too, all they need is to be addicted to the sentient.

Well, since the future was altered by several years during the episode, she's probably 10 years old when they finally get home, if she's even been born yet.

In Endgame, in the nontimetravelly bits, the Doctor is 7 years old.

I don't quite see the problem.

(Wait? He spent three years on the Blink planet and 6 months in the Gravity anomaly, so he could have been as old as 11 if there were a couple extra months I'm not immediately remembering... But he was clocked back to Zero in season 2... But he was still pasting on/rebuilding old files in Future's End.)
