Hello all! I've been making Star Trek fan films on and off for a while now, but after the new fan film regulations were put into effect I had to scrap all my old projects. This is a remake of my first ever fan film, made in accordance with the new rules. A bit of background if you need it:

-"The Midway Incident" is a remake of my fan film "The Ulysses Incident". I renamed the ship because the Ulysses is a Miranda-class in my head canon, and the Midway is an Excelsior-class. The model in the film was what made me change the name.

-The USS Midway is a prototype for a sub-class of Excelsior. The ship has a lot more interior space, and is a lot bulkier, with shorter nacelles due to advances in warp science. She was designed with families in mind, though the families were evacuated before the aforementioned incident, thankfully.

-The Station of Delta Vega is a giant dome with triangle shaped doors facing outwards. Each door opens to a shuttlebay or weapons battery, while the command center and living quarters are protected inside the core of the dome.

-Victor Clark is 28 years old, and one of the youngest Captains in Starfleet.

-The USS Midway's missing nacelle keeps switching sides, if you look closely. This was an error made early in production, and most of the editing work would have had to have been redone to correct it, so it was left as is.

-The voice of the shuttlebay operator at Delta Vega is the same actor who portrays Victor Clark; there is only one actor in the whole video.

Anyway, this was a lot of fun to make, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask! Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it! :)

Regarding Midway Incident, very short but I'm curious where it goes and I love the use of actual models!

Thanks for the kind words! With regards to the length of the video, I know it's short, but this was a script I had written years ago when I was just trying to get a feel for the filmmaking process. Hopefully the next short (and there WILL be a next one) will feature a more complex story. As for the models, yeah that's something that bugs me a lot about modern fan films, too much CGI. I don't know anything about rendering CG models (though my dad did do a CG mockup of the shuttle leaving the shuttlebay for me when it was still the Miranda-class USS Ulysses), so I went the green screen route and did the effects myself.

There are no "regulations". Don't let CBS intimidate you. Make whatever you want as long as you don't commercially profit from it. That is your right.

Hahahahahaha yes the guidelines are guidelines and no they are not follow them or risk death but I'm sure people do not have millions to try and defend their work when they have no legal rights to it in the first place.

Also ya know try to keep up this ship has sailed and anyone who is worth dam will tell you, making a fan film is not yours, mine or anyone's right we do it at the leisure of CBS and Paramount coz they erm own the IP.

........

Also nice work here I'm going to post this on my page on Facebook and tweet it aswell.

I just uploaded another new fan film on youtube. Should I post the link on this thread or start a separate thread dedicated to the new fan film?
