Sometimes I wish the show would spend less time on the relationship angst/ordinary life stuff and more on the wacky cases of the week, but I guess, budgetarily speaking, that's not in the cards. I mean, sure, I liked
Alias better when it balanced the spy stuff with everyday-life stuff, but that was a serious drama; this is a show I want to be goofy and colorful and wild, and although the relationship stuff is written with wit, it's just not as much fun as the sci-fi adventure stuff. It's like tuning into the '60s
Batman and having Bruce Wayne spend half the episode talking about his feelings for Catwoman.
What I do like, though, is the evolving relationship between MM and WW. He started out as a fairly aloof, Joe Friday-esque figure, but he's become quite likeable. And the emotional subplot last week was good both because it revolved around the core relationships and because it was written by Hans Beimler; although it was good drama, and I want this show to be comedy.
I liked the college student "interpreter" doing everyone's voices. He did a pretty good MM.
Was Omega Theta Nu a
Ghostbusters or horror-film reference? I can't find any Google reference to that effect, but could it be the initials? OTN or O. Th. N? (The one
Ghostbusters-related fraternity I'm aware of was in an episode of the animated series; it was called Tri Cuppa Joe.)
I swear there was a Star Trek II semi-reference in there: "No real names on an open frequency" or words to that effect.
No way. "On an open frequency" is a common phrase. It's not specific to that movie any more than, say, playing bagpipes at a funeral.
