Re: The media and movie fans starting to lose interest in Star Trek (2
I wasn’t directly replying to you comment...I was giving a reference to why star trek 12 and the hobbit cant really be compared and I guess the most important reason is that the hobbit is based on a book. So we know what to expect.
Star trek 2013 is not even on original trek...its an alternate reality. We don’t know what to expect at all.

I'm quite happy for the secrecy myself.
Much like with The Hobbit, I fully intend to see the film when it comes out unless it's somehow considered a total disaster. As that's the case, I would much rather enjoy seeing the film without knowing what I'm walking into. A trailer or two might be acceptable, though I'd be just as happy not even being exposed to those beforehand.
While the trailer for The Hobbit was incredible, I find it kind of sad knowing that I won't get to experience those scenes for the first time in the context of the film.
I dont think its fair to compare 2013 trek with the hobbit based on the following reasons
1. the hobbit is only 4-5 months away
2. its based on a book
3. the full trailer is already out
I'm not clear as to how your reasons impact my argument. For what I said, all that seems pertinent is that I highly anticipate both films and wish to know as little as possible about either one in advance. I'm reasonably certain there are others who feel the same way. Heck, I'll post a poll if you'd like.
When one or the other is coming out, whether or not they're based on a book/existing franchise, and whether or not a trailer is currently available seem immaterial to my concerns.
