The Matrix 4

People who don't like Burnham's whispering should avoid this movie at all costs XD
Long, quiet, whispering dialogues happen between loud shooting action scenes. I had to turn it up and down and up and down and finally just went with subtitles.
It's as meta as it can be. Would've been nice to have the original Morpheus and Smith actors, instead of
32nd century Disco programmable matter
XD
Funniest moment: "Bye."
Looking forward to The Catrix XD

Going through the showtimes here in Seattle, it appears that it's showing on IMAX screens twice daily for only five days. That seems awfully stingy on the part of the studio. Do they not think it will do good box office?

Watching this now. No spoilers, but I have to say I'm at least understanding what's going on better than I did with Reloaded/Revolutions. LOL.

I liked it.

It was more satisfying of an end to the story than the sequels were, which I always felt left me a bit empty and with a feeling that our heroes journey was never really worth anything. I will say that I enjoyed the first third of the movie than the rest of it though, I actually thought it was gonna be almost a whole movie of Lana giving Warner Brothers the finger, but there really wasn't any twist or anything deep like that, it was what you thought it was. The rest, I felt it descended a bit too much into The Matrix and the real world, it began to feel like one of the sequels, but they were restrained enough and the world building was nice enough that it kept my attention - but if you were not really into the Matrix, you'll be left very confused.

It also appealed to me in many ways, as I enjoyed the commentary it had on the blight of nostalgia that seems to be taking over modern cinema, particularly blockbusters, especially hot on the heels of Spider-Man. Nostalgia doesn't really work on me, so I enjoyed the message. It wasn't dismissive about the role of nostalgia, but I felt it emphasized that the past was good but you can't just dream about it forever and have to try build something good on top of it or out of it, which a lot of these "franchises" fail to do now, at least for me.

Could it be Covid related? Speaking for my own area, all medium and small markets are now only doing day to day show listings with no pre orders, due to how fast things are changing with Omicron. Even the large markets are only scheduling the week of, nothing beyond that.

Possibly. My local Mom and Pop theater is only doing one showing a day (evenings); with a classic movie in the afternoon.

Probably a demand thing, the truth is that Matrix is in the category of movies like Dune and Blade Runner, meanwhile it is Christmas and families would probably prefer whatever Marvel is putting out, which happens to be a wildly successful family movie.
