The First major of the Golfing Season is upon us and also the first chance for Tiger to go after the Slam. Will you be watching? My roommate is a big golf fan so I think I'll probably be watching (I will miss the final round though) but it should be good. I hope he can win again and not let what happened at Doral affect him. You know it's spring though when the Tradition unlike any other returns. It feels like it's a lot later this year than in the past.

It is one of my favorite sporting events of the year and I do hope to one day see it in person.

I like how they will show the Par-3 Contest for the first time ever on TV, but I don't know how well ESPN will cover the first 2 rounds. USA did a good job, but that was usually with the CBS crew anyway.

It seems a lot later because this is almost the latest that the Second Sunday in April could fall, and usually the Masters is concurrent with the first week of the MLB season.

Oh, and I wonder what the odds are in Vegas. Tiger is probably 1/5 to win, the rest of the field combined is probably 30/1. (An exaggeration, but considering how Tiger is playing, I wouldn't bet against him.)

Because it's not a PGA event. Some people made a big deal about it a few years back with all the shenanigans with the women and Augusta.

If you put it that way, then ALL 4 "Majors" aren't technically majors, because none of them are officially sponsored or run by the PGA Tour. The Masters is run by the Augusta National Golf Club, The US Open is run by the USGA, the Open Championship is run by the R&A, and the PGA Championship is run by the PGA of America, who are a completely seperate entity from the PGA Tour.

My interest is pretty much in the 30-second sound bit of who is winning and how Tiger's doing. Any more coverage than that and they've lost me to another channel. Sports talk was pretty much a waste of my time Thursday with a lot of golf chatter.

Here is a country club which doesnt accept women, and only accepted a token black so Tiger Woods would play there. I swear, if I were a professional golfer and could win that event, I would take that trophy and throw it in their little lake on national TV and say, "here is what I think of you and your club, you inbred rednecks."
