judicial recount has confirmed the liberals had flipped a seat from conservatives with a margin of 21 votes though the headline is misleading because it implies the result changed because of the recounting.

I guess “Liberals flip another seat!” makes a more exciting headline than “Recount confirms original validated result”. Would have expected better of the Star, though.

I'll watch this later but upon seeing this thumbnail/title i REALLY hope this is clickbait.

It’s Julie Nolke, she’s a Canadian comedian, and this is a sketch. I just shared it because I find her material funny.

Trust me, the video is not seriously advocating that we become a state!

the liberals are back to 169 seats after a judicial recount in Newfoundland which saw a Supreme Court judge have to wade through 1000 disputed ballots. Final margin for the tories was 12 votes.

meanwhile the bloc has filed a legal challenge with the superior court over it's one vote loss/

of course the longer all this drags on the longer before poilievre can made a big to re-enter the parliament.

the MP giving up his seat can't do so until 30 days after the election has been finally called.

If I had to guess, I would probably think that the most visible thing to come out of this is that Canadian Tire stores will start selling the Bay's iconic striped blankets. But I guess we'll see.

That's about the only thing that makes sense for Canadian Tire to sell. When I go there, it's for some hardware-related reason or maybe some kitchen-related reason. It's not to buy jewelry or clothing.

Final margin for the tories

Please don't call them "Tories." That's the nickname of the old Progressive Conservative party. That party has been dead for over 20 years. The Reformacons are NOT the same party.

So, thoughts on the Throne Speech? I thought it was pretty good.

Of course, Trump promptly decided to be a child again and demand $61 billion from us or become the 51st state. Right after the King told him Canada's not his for the taking (which is what the diplomatic language in the speech added up to).

Do you have Mark's in Alberta? That's a clothing store chain they own. Canadian Tire is a fairly large company that encompasses many different divisions, (Mark's, SportsChek, and Party City just to name a few) so it's not just the initial CT stores anymore. In fact, the last watch I bought was from Mark's. In some of their CT stores, they even sell clothing. So, they'll take in all of The Bay's brands and sell them in their appropriate stores, including the striped blankets.

A lot of my t-shirts come from Mark's. It's actually cheaper to buy the men's t-shirts there than the women's t-shirts. The color range isn't as good, but if I want color, Walmart has my size on the bargain table.

I just meant, I expect to find hardware and household goods, plus camping stuff, at Canadian Tire. If they own other stores and sell other stuff there, fine.

Oh yeah, I understand what you're saying. Although Canadian Tire itself has quite a lot of variety and even some outdoor gear etc. I remember getting some winter coats there long before Marks existed.

Marks is actually quite an expensive store, which is why I think some of The Bay's brands might be more at home there.

Some things are expensive there. My shoes, for instance. I've made them last since 2009.

But honestly, when you're plus-size, a buy-one-get-one-for-50% in basic t-shirts goes a lot farther if you buy men's shirts than women's, unless it's the cheap rack at Walmart - and most of those aren't good for anything but midsummer wear.

Yes, they're large, the sleeves hang down, and they're not stylish at all. But for me, they are comfortable. I do have women's stuff that I managed to snag in a sale here and there, but it's a fact of the clothing industry that if you take a man's garment and a woman's garment that look the same other than the size, the woman's garment will cost more.

(for ordinary stuff; of course I have no clue what suits cost when it gets into the fancy ranges)

Gotta buy what makes you comfortable, of course! :)

What I dislike is the current trend of slim fit clothing. I'm not what I'd call overweight, nor slim, I'm kind of in-between, yet most of what I try just doesn't hang or flow properly, and it's unnerving. So, I've learned to avoid those. But the trend also seems to have affected how they design relaxed fit clothing, and even with those, I find it hard to find something that fits properly.

Not to mention the sneaky way of using models for plus-size clothing when they are either clearly not plus-size, or if so, it's just the 1x range. It's a crapshoot as to what will actually fit. And women aren't necessarily symmetrical. Plus-size does NOT mean you're endowed like Dolly Parton.
