There's another possibility that I'll admit is only my own speculation. There could be a medical problem that causes this behavior.

Hmm, that'd be somewhat ironic if it turned out she's bipolar. Planetary speaking But yeah, you're right. It could possibly explain why she's put on a completely different public face compared to the one at her workplace. And if that's the case, here's hoping she can find some help.

Anything she accomplished as an astronaut doesn't convince me I should admire her as a Governor General. Spending years developing your own career doesn't make a good leader.

Oh, of course. I don't think anyone is arguing that it would automatically make them a good leader. It's just such a shame that someone with those qualities had to have a destructive behavior. Talk about someone who's needed to get back down to earth. I don't know if she'll be able to get a high profile job again. At least we know she's definitely not a people-person.

From the descriptions I wouldn't want to be spending months with her on ISS. Like they say, you shouldn't judge someone by how they treat their bosses, but how they treat their staff.

From the article it looks like she jumped before she got pushed.

But it brings up another point. The tories are making a noise because payette will still get a vice regal pension despite the circumstances of her departure.

but beyak has her 6 years in which means she gets the senate pension and other perks but there seem to be crickets chirping there.

Yeah, we definitely lost one of the greats. At least he lived a long and successful life, right to the end. One of my favourite of his more recent movies was his role in Remember, where he plays someone with alzheimer's and a supposed holocaust survivor.

That would be a 22 Minutes sketch I'd love to see. Just sic Marge Delahunty on Adriana LaGrange and she'd definitely be a deer in headlights. LaGrange (the Minister of Education, and who is my MLA - no, I didn't vote for her) can't even read a speech off a teleprompter without stumbling and mumbling. She wouldn't have a clue how to handle a 22 Minutes team ambush (most federal politicians go along with these, as they realize that exposure on 22 Minutes might mean a couple of minutes of embarrassment, but it's publicity they can't buy otherwise since the 22 Minutes team actually does ask them to explain their position on whatever is going on).

As for Mercer: I always wondered how many of his "marks" on Talking to Americans actually answered his questions correctly and didn't fall for the joke. Although they would probably be edited out, as it wouldn't be funny.
