The many faces of the First Contact "Cube/Enterprise" poster

Does anyone know just how many different versions of the 'B' style First Contact poster there are? We all know the one that looks like this:

and of course its UK quad counterpart:

Then there's the UK quad that's been posted about a couple of times here, with Earth and the "None Human" tagline:

And its US 1-sheet counterpart, which I managed to get on ebay a few weeks back just as I was starting to think it was just a myth:

fc2.jpg

But stumbling around the net I've found this third version of the poster, with a different rendering of Earth and no smaller tagline:

Has anyone ever seen this last poster in the flesh? I have to say I prefer the version with Earth and small tagline to the one without, I wonder why the former never seemed to appear as much as the latter?

I personally like the 2nd poster the best, but ultimately, the posters and the actual film we ended up with tell 2 separate stories.

But the line isn't "population 9 billion, none human" it's "population 9 billion, all Borg".

I think the phrase "all Borg" makes it sound more ominous than "none human" because that sounds too ambiguous.

Think of the contrast between the phrases "none alive" and "all dead". Which sounds more horrible to you?

I loved the posters of the Borgified Earth. IIRC, there was some fan-made artwork of a "New Borg City" done many years ago in that same genre. They even had a little Locutus laser thingy attached to the Statue of Liberty's face. Pretty humorous pic. And I agree - "All Borg" would have been a better choice of words for the posters. I mean, it's not like it was a big spoiler that the Borg were involved from the beginning, particularly since every poster had a Cube on it.

The "casual viewer" or someone unfamiliar atall with Trek isn't going to understand what "Borg" means.

;)

Would the "casual viewer" understand what the big cube shaped object was supposed to be, then?

Would the casual viewer be too stupid to put two and two together?

Something evil. It's pretty obvious from the presentation. "Borg", on the other hand, isn't.

For what ever reason that poster (any variant) has always reminded me of the cover of “Ender’s Game.”

I think that was the reason for Lily's “Swedish” comment.

Re: The many faces of the First Contact "Cube/Enterprise" po

Probably...
"They're afraid of a tennis player?"

Re: The many faces of the First Contact "Cube/Enterprise" po

I know that it's popular to suppose the great unwashed masses are just too dumb to pick up on a subtle Star Trek reference, but the Borg are not subtle. They're not an obscure little thing only the hardcore fans will recognize; they're the only species Modern Trek made that's as recognizable as the Klingons and the Vulcans. For a quick if not perfect guide, ``Borg'' excluding ``Tennis'' turns up 2,660,000 pages on Google. ``Klingon'' turns up 3,520,000, but ``Bugs Bunny'' only comes up 1,600,000 times.

You can safely refer to Borg in public and trust that people will know what you're talking about.

Re: The many faces of the First Contact "Cube/Enterprise" po

Besides the term “Borg” isn’t exactly new to science fiction, and the concept of a conquering alien races that assimilates an entire population for the use of its resources is even older.

Planet Earth.
Population 9 billion.
All PWNED!!1!1! OMGWTFLOL!!1!1

None of the photos that you have posted are from the US release. They all have the UIP (United International Pictures) logo in the bottom left corner.

Scarily probable.

So they are! Well the first poster is pretty much identical to the US 1-sheet, though I think the US one had the date at the bottom?

So was the 'Earth' poster ever released in the US?
