Wasn't she already wanted for some unspecified crime though? It's something they glossed over in season 2, but in her initial appearance she was clearly on the lamb and had reason to believe that the Republic would send hunters after her and if caught, would see her rot in prison for life. That has to be a little more than just desertion, and IIRC the implication was it was for things she got up to AFTER leaving the military. Knowing her backstory, I'm guessing it was some post WWII Mossad style revenge assassinations on former Imperials, regardless of whether they defected before Cinder, or were formerly pardoned.

But I agree, if your in a precarious position, bite your tounge if you have to, but this was of her own making, and after a few rounds of the fire# she should have just left social media all together. Owell Will miss her, I enjoyed her character for the most part. Shouldn't recast.

One simply has to look at the history of FOX Shows to find the answer to that question.
Apparently, "Opinion Show's" can be an exception.

The First Amendment gives her the absolute right to say whatever she thinks. That said, just because she's not able to be in prison doesn't mean that speech doesn't have consequences.

and in her case for a comment like that she absolutely deserves what she received. Good riddance.

ETA. Soooo...How about Janina Gavankar as the lead for the 'Rangers' show? I mean her character is an elite commando, has an interesting backstory, works for the New Republic, and unlike someone I shall not bother naming she can actually act. Also reasonably certain she's not a literal nazi sympathiser (when did that become something one had to double check?!)

I'd really like it if Janina Gavankar came back in a larger role than she had in season two of The Mandalorian

Most of the stuff that people have gotten fired for has been a lot worse than that.
It's not just about name calling, it's about being rascist, sexist, homophobic, ect.

Criticizing people in power is very different than attacking marginalized groups. People in power need to be criticized constantly in order to keep them in check.

It's not that they're hypocrites. They just want to be able to hurt the people who disagree with them and get away with bigotry and racism, they want power over everyone else and to keep those beneath them down. That's why they get so upset about "cancel culture", it gives a minority group some degree of power over them and they can't stand that.
