Spoilers The Mandalorian season 2 discussion

Okay. Um. That was a lot.

I didn’t even think that the Jedi who would train Grogu would be Luke! Like my brain didn’t even comprehend that. I’m glad it’s him.

However I expected what happened in the finale to happen next season. It still seems too soon for this story to end. But then again I guess I’m not ready to say goodbye to Mando/Grogu adventures. :wah:

At least he’s safe and will be cared for and properly trained. I believe Mando when he says they’ll see each other again. It was so heartwarming when he took off his helmet for Grogu!

On a happier note, hi R2-D2!

It's not a coincidence that someone on another sci fi/fantasy show made an exit this week too. Coming in 2021... The Georgiou and Grogu Chronicles.
I have to admit that I'm really surprised that the Luke Skywalker spoiler and the ******** ** ******* spoiler from Star Trek Discovery from just a day prior haven't had more clickbait headlines spoiling them. The internet has shown remarkable restraint.

I was spoilers on Luke’s appearance. I bet the effect would have been much greater afterwards.

But on extremely important detail nobody seems to have mentioned:

the stache was gone!!! Why is nobody talking about that?

It was? I thought it might have been, but I wasn't sure.
It was Bo-Katan.
Did we see her OK afterwards? I had assumed she was dead, but I've seen several people theorizing on a future conflict between her and Din Djarin.

Okay. I'm afraid I have to take this back. In the seven minutes since I've posted this I saw a headline at startrek.com with a picture from Discovery that completely spoils the surprise there, and Gizmodo and Esquire posted article spoiling Luke on the Mandalorian.

That is the best Star Wars I have seen in 30 years. Everything about that episode was spectacular and when they revealed Luke, I was like, holy shit. They did a pretty good job de-aging Hamil too. Also, the added bonus was R2 right beside him, and I was like, this is what Star Wars is supposed to be. It's been a while since a TV series made me sit on the edge of my seat. The Mandalorian just did that and give a big emphatic middle finger to the sequel trilogy.

BTW: green > blue.

I don't mean in a strictly aesthetically pleasing color sense, but there's just something about the vibrant saturation of the green that makes it pop off the screen. I've always thought so, but it's more noticeable with modern colorization on a LED TV.

I prefer the blue (partially because I like the color better, partially because I'm colorblind and red, green, and yellow sabers can be hard to tell apart depending on the exact shades being used), but I love the angry shriek Luke's green lightsaber makes when it's turned on. They actually incorporated that detail into the "Fallen Order" video game, so I ended up using the green blade because I liked letting bad guys hear it when I was about to ruin their day.

I happened to google something in the morning before I sat down to watch the episode, and Google is apparently doing some kind of "trending searches" thing where, before you start typing and it can autocomplete, it just shows you popular searches that are going on at that moment. The top of the list was something about "Luke Skywalker" "Mandalorian." I already suspected he'd be in the finale, and I was glad they built up to it slowly, which blunted the impact of the spoiler (it's not like he just jumped out from behind a corner with a full-face reveal).

So who is the ruler of Mandalore? Was it Gideon because he had the weapon? Is it someone else? No one? I am assuming just because you have the blade, it doesn't automatically make you the ruler, you still have to make the claim?

Don't know. Don't know if I care.

Maybe Satine's long lost relative will pop up. Or Ahsoka will reveal Sabine again. But, Mandalore sucks.

Grogu has reached that point with kid characters where it's time to do a convenient time, age, maturity jump to when they are able to say and do more. So when we next see the little shaver he should be talking, have a light saber, etc. More like where Ahsoka was during Clone Wars. Possibly leaving the training to have a different life. Maybe the training doesnt take.

Time to say goodbye to the stroller. We also have to see whatever becomes of Grogu's blood samples. For cloning? For making a SIth? Granted they took over Gideons ship, so maybe the blood samples never went anywhere. But maybe they were sent off before this episode.

Some forget that Satine and Bo-Katan have an unseen sibling who's never featured in any story, animated or live-action. I'd be very interested to see the third Kryze in the family if Filoni can find a good story for them.

If Grogu was physically older/grown-up I could see a reverse Empire Strikes Back where Grogu through the force sees Din in extreme major and halts his training with Luke to go rescue him. Paralleling Luke leaving Yoda to go to Cloud City.

Don't see how you get Grogu to being able to do that and not sure how may want to see "The Child" suddenly more grown up.

Oh I know the reasoning; I've read 'Lost Stars'. I just mean that this is like the 5th *named character*, so it's becoming a bit of a trope.

Maybe they were all on the scout ship that reached Dantooine.

She was standing up at the very last scene as Grogu was leaving. I made sure to watch for and count the blue armor.
