Spoilers The Mandalorian season 2 discussion

I fucking hate Boba Fett. A character literally wrapped in kewl who outside of the movies (particularly the EU) didn’t do shit. In the EU, he was a prime reason I got bored. Always the kewl character, man of few words, who was always amazing at everything he did. It. Was. Annoying.

Having said that...

He was pretty cool here. They actually managed to subvert my expectations and make him a decent character. Or at least the start of one. He honestly broke the mold of being the character we’ve known in the past. And it was, as another said in this thread, a pretty badass episode.

Sorry to see the Razor Crest go down and of course Grogu will be saved soon. But definitely a good hook for the rest of the season.

Same. I was happy for Boba to be dead or still digesting in the Sarlaac. Last season when people said they heard sours I was like “oh GOD no!” However they pulled it off and made ME like the bastard that froze Han!!! Well done.

Mace is dead

and Ezra is lost somewhere.
So was Thrawn until recently and they were on the same ship.

Luke is the only one
I don't disagree but logistically speaking they'd need CGI to de-age Luke. You wouldn't need that with Mace and Ezra can be cast with any actor.
Also, Luke showing up in season 2 seems like blowing the goods too soon. I mean, Luke has to be the ultimate cameo or appearance right? Would they really do that so soon?

Well, I got to hand it to this episode, it actually made Boba Fett interesting again, which hasn't really been the case since AOTC, IMO. And with them establishing that Jango was a foundling, I guess that the bit in Clone Wars about him not really being Mandalorian was simply the truth from a certain point of view? IE, he's not of the Mandalorian nationality, but rather of the Mandalorian creed.
This show has the midas touch.

Anyone think Fett is the one who brought Gideon to Grogu? I mean, he tracked Mando just like he tracked the Millennium Falcon to Bespin. As soon as he gets his armor back, Razorcrest gets blasted. He has a history of getting things for Imperial-types who can afford to pay him.
He's certainly not the Fett who bumbled around in ROTJ- more like Jango from AOTC now.

I may be misremembering, but didn’t Gideon have a tracker placed on the Crest in the one of the last few episodes?

ETA: Ninja’d!

Those knee dart rockets Boba used in this episode date back to at least 1997

You don’t need to show him. My idea was to show the back of him hooded on the planet he’s on. Make him mysterious like the beginning of Jedi.

AHA- I forgot.
Still, I wouldn't list Fett among the "good guys"- I think he'll prove treacherous.

I don't think he'll betray him, but once the kid is rescued he'll just leave, with nothing more to say because he fulfilled the deal.
No friendship, or any connection other than being Mandalorian.

Agreed. He’ll likely be a recurring foil or ally as “needed” in the series, all coming down to the highest bidder.

That armor and suit is still ugly.

It's meant to look used and battered. The same armor was shiny and silver until Boba had it repainted for his own use. It went through a lot between the time Boba inherited it and he fell into the Sarlacc Pit.

Something of note for those who don't watch the cartoons, the helmet is not Jango's original. Boba blew that up in Clone Wars when trying to kill Mace Windu.

The rest of the armour is Jango's repainted/modified as far as we know though.

And George wanted him to have a battered look like, say, an Old West gunslinger or bounty hunter.

I do believe we are approaching peak Star Wars. Good to see ol' Boba Fatt, er, Fett, need to go visit that armorer lady... Great stuff though, at first I was like, 30 minutes? But a lot of good stuff packed in there. They seem to do a good job figuring out who should direct what, all the crazy shooting seemed a good fit for Robert Rodriguez.

The tattered "poncho" is a nice touch there.
