The making of my Trek uniform...

Now you're making me blush! ;) Thanks for the compliments guys.

did you use the Uhura pattern?

I used the "TOS Starfleet Officer Duty Uniform Female" from Roddenberry.com. It's a finicky pattern and I made a lot of changes, but it was a good base.

Very nice job! & the retro early- 2000's glasses are an interesting touch.;)

Well, I've always had this fondness for antiques... ;)

Yes, very nice. Looks quite authentic too - notwithstanding the alterations you mention you made...

And allergic to Retinax, I suppose.;)
(I still wear glasses: I'm to cowardly for contact lenses.)

Seems like too much work for me, lol. I'm thinking about finding a tailor around town and having it made... maybe in Gold lamee! lol I have no patience, kudos, sister, kudos! You did such a supreme job on it! :)

O M G !
That is freaking awesome!!!
You should seriously think about making and selling these!
The uniform looks fantastic and you are positively adorable!

Wow, fantastic skills! And quite flattering too, I might add. ;)
I wish I had the sewing ability to make one... I desperately wanted to have one for Halloween this year, but I can't sew worth beans, and don't have money for a professional tailor. Kudos to you for having the patience to make this fantastic uniform!

Oh that would be cool... any plans for the uniform from 2-6?

The Mighty Maroon Monster? ;) I have to confess to being a bit intimidated by the complexity and tailoring of those uniforms...but on the other hand, it probably be a fun challenge.

Aw, thanks! You're too sweet! :) I'm considering taking some commissions for custom uniforms, just trying to figure out if I have the time or not...darn day job. ;)

Thank you! Though, would you like to know my dark secret for the flattering fit? I had some help, in the form of shapewear...there's quite a lot going on under the dress to help me look like that. :)

Honestly, despite some of the headaches this uniform caused, if you can sew a straight line, you can make this dress. The rest is just trial and error (sometimes lots of error!). Give it a try--use cheap fabric to make a mock up and work out the fit issues, probably mutter and curse a bit along the way, and you should be good to go.

Ha! The secret is out!
I kid. =D Well, I must admit that seeing a costume of such quality made by a fan, I may have to give it a try. Never followed a pattern before, but I'm sure it can be figured out.

Sorry if you covered this, but would you possibly disclose where you got the insignia?

I can't sew a button on. Seriously. I wish i could sew because i have lots of friends that do, (many of them sew for dolls and sell their creations at HUGE prices too).

In high school, we all had to sew the same gown (it was for the choral group). A friend and i locked ourselves in my room, got very very high and proceeded to glue, staple, safety pin our gowns together. It was a miracle they held up through the entire concert.

No....i won't be sewing a uniform for myself anytime soon! I ENVY YOU!!

Very nice - the pic as well as the outfit.

After sewing together my own style and altering a nuTrek recently I admire anyone with the patience to get it all finished.
