The Lights of Zetar good or bad episode

I did speak to the post and asked a legitimate question.

How can someone completely change their opinion of an episode from "it was quite good" to "disaster episode in every single way" simply by changing usernames? What are you trying to accomplish by starting a thread with one opinion and then reversing it? Sounds like a troll to me.

I'm responding to what I earlier thought of the episode is I do prefer other episodes is there anything wrong what changing your opinion.

I can't even understand this jibberish, so I'll refrain from replying to it except to explain why I think your change of opinion is "wrong."

The problem is that the purpose of the forum is to stimulate interesting discussion by stating an opinion or premise and then backing it up with reasoned, thought-provoking ideas.

You started this thread by stating you liked the episode and asking for opinions. Then you come back three pages later and state that it's a piece of junk only AFTER the bulk of the discussion showed an unfavorable view of the episode. Is your view of your own opinion SO WEAK that you have to just agree with the majority?

I watched the ep last night. Now I get the Lamb Chop ref after seeing the credits!

There are certainly worse. Mira's ok. The comment about her being ugly earlier was sexist, rude, and untrue. The Scotty love angle -- as bad as I remembered. Nice angle about Mira having a right to her own life and finding some resolve and strength of will after earlier being pronounced overly pliable. (She doesn't seem pliable in McCoy's exam room; actually fiesty.

Except for the Scotty-puppy love, it was actually better than I remember. Which is true for most s-3 eps when I watch them instead of reading posts about them. Peace.

It is an opinion. I find her to be ugly. Unattractive. That's my opinion. Please explain how that can possibly be considered "sexist." I'd love to hear that.

You see, words have meaning. "Sexist" has a specific meaning that can't in ANY WAY apply to a statement about thinking someone else is ugly. Rude, sure...that's subjective and your opinion. Untrue, sure...if you believe she is not ugly. That's what debate is for (although convincing someone else that a third person is ugly or not is, well, going to be difficult). Sexist...you need to explain that one.

“The Lights of Zetar” was written by puppeteer/ventriloquist Shari Lewis and her husband Jeremy Tarcher. Shari was known for writing children's books, not science fiction. Furthermore, according to IMDb, Shari wanted to play Scotty's love interest herself. Maybe she would have had the disembodied Zetars speaking through the puppet Lamb Chop.

Going by her appearance in The Man from UNCLE a couple of years earlier, she was pretty hot back then. Really nice legs. She would have looked amazing in the Trekskirt.

I missed this post. Wow, I thought the Lewis name was a coincidence! How weird.

Well, of course I don't need to do anything. BUT:

1. Perhaps you're right, and your comment was not sexist.
2. Someone seemingly randomly coming out of cyberspace to comment on a woman's appearance seems to fit the pattern I believe to be true, where women's appearances are subject to comment MUCH moreso then men's. I do not have sociological data, but from my ongoing education (listening and reading) women in politics and business have made this case persuasively to me over the years. Now, perhaps you make comments about male actors' ugliness too. My apologies if you are equal opportunity in that regard, seriously.
3. I did know that words have meanings.
4. Speaking of which, notice that you used the word "girl" to refer to a grown woman.

Be well, all.

"Just how big are those domes supposed to be?"

In the pressure chamber they appear to be about a 'D' cup.

And yes, a terrible episode.

Left field love story, pointless 'evil' aliens and no real compelling reason to rewatch.

TOS-R FX help a little though.
