He sent them to get Ben, not to kill anyone. They went off and did their own thing there.

To protect the island, he thought they were from the army. Anyway, people can change.

I dunno, maybe he isn't perfect, but he seems less "killy" than Ben does, IMO.

Both aren't saints, I would trust Widmore than i would trust Ben though. Ben lies, a lot.

Thing is, Widmore said he guarded the island peacefully for three decades. If he doesn't want to exploit it, does Ben? What's Ben been doing other than ruling the island? Has he tried to exploit it?

The thing that gets me about his claim is he was such a hot-head when he was 17. Ruthless as well. He might have seen it as peacefully.

Oh, I don't believe Widmore guarded it peacefully for a second. I'm just wondering the motivation of him and also Ben. Why do they want to possess the island and have they tried to exploit it?
