Korra is getting a haircut.

BEHOLD: NEW HAIR! Korra’s design gets backs to its roots in Book 4, with a bob cut like the one Joaquim did in his original concept of her. It wouldn’t be the Avatarverse without some hairstyle changes, now would it?

There's also going to be a Korra panel at New York Comic Con on Thursday October 9th at 5:15PM.

I just like that the creators do things like this. Most animated characters tend to look exactly the same throughout the entire run of their shows. Remember when Aang had hair?!

Wow, what do we have there? Some glimpses:

• Three years later???
• Kai and Opal in flying-squirrel suits. Air-Nomad crimefighting gear? They're playing up the scarlet side of the Air Nomad color scheme over the saffron.
• Bolin seems to be in the armor of that Earth Nation/metalbender army -- led by Kuvira from the last episode of Book 3?
• Suyin bowing her head sadly.
• Korra getting sucked into a pool of metal.
• Jinora also in a squirrel suit. Her hair has grown back, and she's apparently among the spirit-forest growth in a city. Later, she, Ikki, and Meelo are gliding together with a sky bison.
• Asami being Asami: Driving like a maniac and glove-zapping a bad guy atop a train. Some things never change.
• Opal in her red uniform looking downcast among a crowd of cheering/saluting Earth Kingdom subjects.
• Ohmigosh -- I think we get our first look at Zuko's daughter the Fire Lord at 1:48, sitting between Zuko and President Raiko.
• Katara treating Korra in a bath of healing water.
• Zhu Li, do the thing in the robot battlesuit!
• Varrick does not look happy.
• "I can't believe it!" Oh boy!

I thought that Book 4 would take place in the Fire Nation but so far everything is firmly entrenched in the Earth Kingdom. Lots of green.

Looks like Kuvira is the main antagonist. My first impression of her was a good one though, so I'm sure that the situation with her is complicated.

I think at 1:09 (former) Grand Secretariat Gun is standing with Kuvira and her forces.

Along with Jinora's regrown hair, Meelo has hair?

The hair length is similar, but their color schemes are very different. Korra has brown skin and blue eyes (Water Tribe) and is normally dressed in blues and grays, though she seems to be in green for much of the trailer. Opal has lighter skin and vivid green eyes (Earth Kingdom), and is dressed in the scarlet of the new Air Nomad uniforms.

Well, color me intrigued. I wasn't expecting a time jump.

I was sort of hoping for one. Given the state Korra was in in the last episode, I would have hated it if she just gets some miracle cure two episodes in. Didn't expect 3 years though. I was thinking more like 6 months to a year.

I'm interested to see how they handle Tenzin's kids 3 years on.

If you mean the woman sitting between him and Raiko, that was Zuko's daughter the Fire Lord, as I mentioned before. It's possible that Mai is her mother, but we don't know yet, I think.

Can't go to the Fire Nation? Bring the Fire Nation to us. If that is the Fire Lord, I'm glad that we're getting to see her. She's more modern-looking than I expected.

Yup. Zuko and Mai broke up in "The Promise Part Two" in 2012. We have yet to hear from her since the Free Comic Book Day 2013 comic where she was still apart from Zuko. Shame if they haven't gotten back together offscreen.
