The least disliked episode of VOY - Season Three

BlueStuff

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
This is a game that we play every few years, and it's generally a lot of fun, providing a chance to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, please leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode just because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

Man, I have a lot less fondness for season 3 than I do for season 2! There's a lot that catches my eye for a first ax ("Rise", "False Profits"...), but I'm going to go with "Favorite Son". Just the whole premise of how Kim could really be this alien was so labored and absurd, I couldn't hook into it for a second. And obviously my red alert siren engages the minute I know it's a Harry episode.

I'm removing Sacred Ground for being very boring and consisting of Janeway going through trials that don't really matter in the end and most of the episode is her chatting with old people that keep repeating the same stuff over and over again.

The Q and the Grey. A pretty poor episode regardless, and it completely runs Q into the ground.

I will eliminate False Profits from this game, the Ferengi episode game, and ALL games! For it is the worst episode in all of Star Trek history, and also worse than any Babylon 5 episode, Stargate episode, Orville episode, Galactica episode, and the Phantom Menace.

The cartoon version of Ferengi take over a planet of pathetic childlike imbeciles. They are presented as so helpless without the Ferengi they probably couldn't tie their shoes. Not only this, Voyager interprets the prime directive in the weirdest possible way that they CAN intervene, but can't use the easy way to do so. At the end, they make an appeal to the local Stupid which results in them chanting 'Wings of Fire' and trying to murder them all. On top of all this, they blow a chance to take a shortcut straight home because they forget to place security anywhere on the ship, and it all works out in such a contrived way to send the Ferengi back but somehow not them.

Worst episode ever, of any notable scifi franchise. I will kill it in any 'Least disliked' game it appears in.

I will be damned if "FALSE PROFITS" makes it any further in this game. A horrible episode in every sense, it should be in good competition with MOST DISLIKED episode. (I will start that game after the BlueStuff finishes this year's games.)

Lots of episodes that are mediocre this season! I'm taking out Darkling, as it's just so forgettable.

Eliminating Scoprion pt 1. Chakotay was right about the nature of the Borg, yet for some reason Janeway's right to decide takes moral precedence.

Neatly summed up. He wasn't wrong, he was in command, and the situation had changed since Janeway gave her instructions. And somehow, this is perceived as a betrayal.

I've never really forgiven "Basics II" for the revelation that Seska's baby was in fact not Chakotay's. That felt like an emotional cheat, made the risks Voyager took ultimately pointless, and made Chakotay's character growth in "Basics I," where he learned not to blame "his" child for the misdeeds of its mother, entirely moot. Also, another example of deliberately choosing the easiest and least interesting option: the one that required no follow-up.

Also, I couldn't believe we were seriously expected to wonder if the crew would get the ship back. You think maybe?

I almost went with "False Profits" when I was making the first elimination. I am soooo glad I didn't! :bolian:

This turn I'm going to ax "Coda." This one is fine, I don't hate it, but all the ideas it's playing with were done so much more successfully in other Trek episodes. This episode just doesn't leave me with much at the end of it -- I'm walking away with SOMETHING more memorable with everything else on this list.

"The Chute" goes down the drain. A terrible episode where Janeway betrays her oath as a Starfleet captain (one of many times she does that) by threatening an innocent kid. And she's all for respecting the laws of the aliens in some episodes and not in this one... I mean how is scrambling Belanna's mind for a thought crime any more acceptable than sending Tom and Harry to prison in this one? Tom and Harry's idea to evoke tasty food to forget about their hunger is the stupidest I have heard in a long time. Anyone who's not a complete moron knows that thinking about food sends a message to your stomach that it should start working. I mean you can feel the acid piercing holes in your stomach!

I find Warlord hard to watch. It was interesting seeing Jennifer Lien doing something different, it's just a shame it wasn't good.

"Flashback" doesn't make any sense. Seriously a virus pretending to be a memory engram to hide from... what? Our immune system? Second a virus that jumps instantly from its host when it "senses" that he's about to die!!! How does the virus get to the other host? Teleportation? Janeway is "inside" Tuvok's memory and she "interacts" with it? What kind of "memory" is that? A "memory" that changes like that is not a memory, it's called imagination!!! What a load of crap!!!

Removing Distant Origin because the premise is a little silly. Though their intolerance of change is probably where they should find common ground with humans.
