The least disliked episode of VOY - Season Five

BlueStuff

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
This is a game that was played here a couple of years ago, and it proved to be a lot of fun, spanning across each Trek series, as well as a great way to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

Taking out Nothing Human.

This is an awful episode, preachy, hypocritical, racist, superficial and nonsensical. They made a complete mess out of the whole hologram thing - if the Crell Moset Hologram was sentient (the episode is treating him as if he were Crell Moset himself, which makes no sense), then the Doctor committed a murder. If the Crell Moset Hologram is cruel and ruthless like Moset was, it's that way because the Doctor programmed him that way. If he is just a bunch of information, then why the heck does he talk as if he's Crell Moset and why is he treated that way?

The whole conflict is contrived and makes no sense - B'Elanna doesn't initially protest because the medical information was obtained through torture and murder of Bajorans, she threw a hissy fit because the Hologram looked Cardassian. (Not even because he looked like Moset - she had no idea what he looked like. Then the episode went out of its way to justify her racism.) The solution was simple: "Computer, set appearance parameters to Human/Bajoran/something else other than Cardassian."

The Disease is a very silly episode. Why should the crew have to get the okay to have sex with aliens? Is Janeway a pervert? It must be Neelix's doing.

I'll vote again as teya beat me to getting shut of The Disease. Gravity is a boring episode, so that can go.

"Once upon a time" there was a competition to vote for your disliked episode of Season five of Voayger. Another story with a chunk of it set on the holodeck.

I'll remove Course: Oblivion, which is a very bad sequel to a very bad episode. The silver blood duplicates the ship? How lame.

Agreed!

Extreme Risk is really annoying by having B'Elanna be depressed for one episode. I really like her, but she's all over the map this season.

They say that thirty dyas is a long time, but not long enough for this episode. The events of this episode were a wasted oppotunity, they should have promoted Kim following Tom's demotion allowing them to change the character dynamic between the two.

Night - There are no stars in space, and Janeway spends most of the episode in hiding and depressed. It's random writing like this that makes even Mulgrew agree that Janeway is bi-polar.

"Dark Frontier, Part II" It has it moments but ST multi-part stores tend to be great at the start with the conclusion not quite measuring up. Besides some of the other episodes have those character moments which I prefer.

Still a lot of tempting targets left, but I will eliminate In The Flesh.

WHY would they do an episode about a species totally unlike humans but give them all human form? They didn't even come up with a good excuse to do it. Why would Species 8472 think of doing the whole Soviet Russia Americatown thing? They don't need to infiltrate Earth when it looks like any one of them can lay waste to a city at will. The premise doesn't make sense and they nerfed their own super-powerful aliens.

Relativity... while it's funny that the whole time police agency is POed at Janeway's time travel antics, this episode is just a cluster.... of random time travel nonsense. To say nothing of the concept of arresting someone for "crimes they will commit" just seems downright nasty.
