The least disliked episode of TNG - season two

BlueStuff

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
This is a game that we play every two years, and it's generally a lot of fun, providing a chance to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

Shades of Grey. I know the reasons they had to do it, but this is one heck of a dire clip show. Ugh.

Samaritan Snare - Though sort of funny seeing Picard cooped up with Wesley for so long, seeing the rest of the crew turn stupid for an episode and be taken for a ride as they were just does not make my opinion of this one good at all really.

Sorry Up the Long Ladder, Mr. O'Dell's buffoonery was a little too much to take.

I'll take out The Icarus Factor. Nothing original to be found in Riker's storyline with his father, or its conclusion.

Getting rid of "The Deadly Years 2.0," sorry, I mean "Unnatural Selection." That transporter sure is a useful device, isn't it? The way it works in this episode, you'd think it was the cure to all aging.

I chose "Elementary, Dear Data". I really do not care for holodeck adventure episodes.

The Outrageous Okona. Outrageously bad.

Bid farewell to "Manhunt", an episode that serves none of the characters very well.

I always found "Loud as a Whisper" mostly dull, despite an interesting concept.

The Child
Where Silence Has Lease
A Matter of Honor
The Measure of a Man
Contagion
The Royale
Time Squared
Pen Pals
Q Who?
The Emissary

It's getting harder now with a solid bunch of episodes, all except a few. One of those is The Royale. Not enjoyable to watch - and were the writers unaware that the last few years had already seen substantial progress made on solving Fermat's last theorem?

The Child
Where Silence Has Lease
A Matter of Honor
The Measure of a Man
Contagion
Time Squared
Pen Pals
Q Who?
The Emissary

Pen Pals is good but my least favourite of those left.

The Child
Where Silence Has Lease
A Matter of Honor
The Measure of a Man
Contagion
Time Squared
Q Who?
The Emissary
Peak Performance

The Child has to go too. The good of it is outweighed by the bad, for me.

Putting "Time Squared" in the "Don't Go There" box. The unexplained random anomaly is unfortunate, and the "alternate" Picard who can't even speak for the majority of the episode is a wasted opportunity. For a better usage of alternate characters, see Voyager's "Deadlock".

Where Silence Has Lease is kinda creepy but not enough to save it from me!

A Matter of Honor
The Measure of a Man
Contagion
Q Who?
The Emissary
Peak Performance

I think it is starting to get difficult for me. It really feels more "least liked" rather than "most disliked".

I am going to remove Contagion, simply because I did not like seeing a Galaxy Class starship destroyed.

A Matter of Honor
The Measure of a Man
Q Who?
The Emissary
Peak Performance

Enjoyable episode, but I will knock Peak Performance out. The one thing I can't stand about this episode is Picard and Riker's initial smug attitude toward a battle exercise. You idiots just had your asses handed to you, and you want to pretend that defensive strategy is needless? Guess what, Enterprise, in a battle against the Borg, you are the Hathaway.

A Matter of Honor
The Measure of a Man
Q Who?
The Emissary

"The Emissary" was good but not as much as the others, K'Ehlyer is interesting but just a little too unsubtle/obstinate and the resolution to the climax could feel less out-of-left field.

A Matter of Honor
The Measure of a Man
Q Who?
