The least disliked episode of DS9 - season two

The Circle can go. It had its moments but isn't that memorable.

The Homecoming
Cardassians
Necessary Evil
The Wire
Tribunal
The Jem'Hadar

Tribunal now. An excellent episode, but I just like it less than the rest.

The Homecoming
Cardassians
Necessary Evil
The Wire
The Jem'Hadar

Ill do the honors and take out The Collaborator. It's an ok episode, probably the best of Vedek Bariel, but he was super boring along with most of Kira's boyfriends.

I used to hae a big Bareil crush way back when so I was a bit biased in his favour and it masked his dullness to me. On repeat watchings though I still love the episode for Kira, Winn and Bareil. Those three often had wonderful dialogue. I do think Odo was a much better partner though.

Cardassians is out. Despite Robinson and an emerging Alaimo, the story is somewhat convoluted, and the regulars seem to contribute a little to the episode.

The Homecoming

Necessary Evil
The Wire
The Jem'Hadar

Tough now. I'll take out the Homecoming. This was an interesting 3 parter overall, strong performances from Louise Fletcher and Frank Langella but just not as good as the remaining 3.

Necessary Evil
The Wire
Jem'Hadar

I'll take out The Jem'Hadar now. An excellent and dramatic end to the season, but I like the character work in the other episodes more.

Necessary Evil
The Wire

I'm taking out The Wire. Great episode, but it is very bottle like. It rests heavily on Robinson, although the other performances are still strong.

Necessary Evil

Why I chose Necessary Evil over The Wire? Necessary Evil is DS9's origin story. It explored the long standing relationship between three major characters and one recurring character. It got to the problem of truth and realism that would become a core theme throughout the series. It is also a great noir story, perhaps the best Trek ever did. And it also had some great comedic moments that did not undermine the seriousness of the investigation.

Agree completely with your thoughts on Necessary Evil. Great episode and well earned number one for season 2!!

The top 2 were great episodes. Either one deserved to win. Shame about Crossover going so early. The Mirror Universe got silly but this one was an unexpected surprise when I first saw it and was treated more seriously than most of the following Mirror episodes.
