The least disliked episode of DS9 - Season Six

I missed out on voting on this season. It's interesting to see how the voting went, as S6 is my favorite of DS9. Not surprised to see ITPM drop off early, although I think it's brilliant. Also not surprised to see a couple of my favorites eliminated fairly early, even though I think Who Mourns for Morn and The Magnificent Ferengi are among DS9's best. If I had to pick one from this season, it probably would have been Rocks and Shoals, but A Time to Stand is a fine winner as well.

Ah, it was me who eliminated Who Mourns For Morn (which makes me feel a pang of guilt for a second :)), but I'm interested in the case for it, I don't think I've ever seen anyone really enthuse about it before. What is it you love about it?

Looooooooove Rocks and Shoals. Such a great showcase of DS9's strengths, two highly compelling stories with complicated moral dilemmas. Brilliantly produced, the digital transformation of that rock quarry into a beach/ocean is seamless. The characters are so well utilized. I love everything about it, one of DS9's perfect hours (well, maybe I'd quibble with how quickly Garak gives up his attempts to lie his way out of the situation when captured by the Jem'Hadar, but when the closest you can come to a complaint is "I'm not sure about that one line in that one scene...")

Everything! I think it's hilarious. I always loved the running gag of Morn being a non-stop talker even though we never hear him speak, and this kicks it up a new level by telling us so much about Morn without him being present for almost the entire episode. I love Gregory Itzin in almost anything he does. The scene where Quark discovers the latinum has been extracted from the gold bricks cracks me up just thinking about it - Armin Shimerman and Rene Auberjonois play it so well. The same with the scene at the end where Quark asks Morn for an explanation and then cuts him off just as Morn is opening his mouth. I just grin from start to finish when I watch it.

I agree with everything you said about Rocks and Shoals.

I think S7's last ten episodes were very strong but if the rest of the season were one season by itself, it would be the worst DS9 season.

I like Who Mourns For Morn, it's more an average DS9 episode for me, but one of the few times they did a 'Profit hijinks' episode and hit the mark.

And I don't think it's just Discovery, I think it's all the shows on TV right now where humans are awful and everyone dies. Some people are getting fatigued of dark shows.

In this scenario, I might still give the first year the title of Worst Season. But it would be tight!
