The least disliked episode of DS9 - Season Seven

BlueStuff

This is a game that was played here a couple of years ago, and it proved to be a lot of fun, spanning across each Trek series, as well as a great way to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

Badda-Bing Badda-Bang - baseball, holodeck, petty Vulcans... IMO one of the worst episodes of DS9.

Edit: Of course, I meant "Take me out to the holosuite" - but Badda-Bing Badda-Bang" was just as bad, so my decision stands. ;)

Well Badda Bing Badda Bang didn't have baseball or Vulcans in it. ;)

But anyways, I'll take out Prodigal Daughter. A character piece on Ezri really just distracts from the main story arc.

Wow, I go to bed for seven hours, come back and find I've missed all of season six!

Anyways, I'll take out The Emperor's New Cloak. A pointless Mirror Universe episode that contradicted what we'd seen previously.

I'll shift The Emperor's New Cloak, mostly because I seem to keep killing off Ferengi episodes, but also because it's a stupid episode.

Removing Chrysalis. As I said in season 6, I can't stand the Jack Pack so seeing them again didn't do anything for me.

The writers felt Extreme Measures was the weakest episode of the finale arc, so I'll bump it now. Sloan was too cool to get a weak death like that.

"Chimera", nothing espically wrong with the episode but nothing really to make it stand out.

Shadows and Symbols is gone. So the Prophets manipulated and used a woman as a vessel for their child, against her will. And the show acts like this is a good thing?

Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges - because it was so mean-spirited. Manipulate Bashir to screw over a Romulan ally, which will likely result in her execution or life imprisonment. All for what, to further a Federation spy? Meh.

Afterimage. Ezri being loveably incompetent just didn't work with actually giving Garak real issues.

Penumbra.

Didn't like Ezri going after Worf like that. REALLY didn't like them hooking up. Seems out of character for both, even given the emotional circumstances. and the consequences of that should've been far messier than they actually ended up being.

Finally, the "ominous" end was tacked on and something the writers did far too often during the course of the series, IMO.

This is tough because both Field of Fire and Badda Bing are high up on the 'worst episode ever' list.

I'll go with Field of Fire, because at least Badda Bing was trying to be stupid. Field of Fire is first set up like a bad CSI episode and then has cringe after cringe. "What do you see?" "People in pictures smiling." "I deduce from that the killer is a VULCAN!" Ugh. Just no. That's totally freaking stupid. A) If a vulcan became a killer it would be because the vulcan lost control of his emotions. B) Really, you deduce from the fact that the people who were killed happen to have smiling pictures that not only that is the reason those victims were selected, but that the killer is trying to destroy emotion. UGH. God freaking no.

I'll lose Once More Unto the Breach. It was great seeing Kor again, and he got a great send-off. It's just not as strong as what's left.

It's time for "Til Death Do Us Part" to part us. It was either that or Badda-Bing...

Farewell Image in the Sand. More Sisko the Prophet lameness.

I'm sure it's about to get booted out but I really like Badda-Bing. It doesn't take itself seriously at all and is totally fun. I love that shot of the crew making their way to the holodeck all decked out in costume. These guys are out for a good time!

I guess I'll actually knock out Badda-Bing Badda-Bang. For what's left, there's plot-heavy stuff, and one fun romp. Now instead of a holodeck malfunction, the "malfunction" is built into the program, how convenient. I do enjoy the episode and the Ocean's 11 plot. Nice cameo by Robert O'Reilly.

It is bittersweet with Sisko singing "The Best is Yet to Come" to signal the finale story arc.
