The Least Disliked Episode 2023: SNW Final Rounds

Damn, I was actually hoping for a faceoff between "Children of the Comet" and "Under the Cloak of War".

My final vote is for "Charades". Despite it being fantastic, "Children of the Comet" is a more classic STAR TREK story and, as BlueStuff has said, a better representation of SNW.

Thank god "Under The Cloak Of War" is gone! That's the only one I would have absolutely hated as a winner. Either of these, or "Memento Mori", all seem worthy in different ways to me.

Actually, TBH, 12 of the 20 SNW's would make worthy winners to me.

Anyway, I will also give my last point to "Children Of The Comet."

"Charades" is just one of the best premises this franchise has ever had. "I've been turned into a human, and the in-laws are coming!" Fucking genius.

T'Pring's smackdown of her mother is also one of the most satisfying moments of the season for me.

"Mother, it is illogical to criticize the nature of a memory. The ritual has been completed. Your assessment is not required."

So calmly and evenly delivered, and it lands with the force of a baseball bat to the face. Spectacular.

I'm also such a Spock/Chapel shipper. (This show is going to end with a flashforward to their happy secret marriage, post-TUC. I'm convinced!)

I'm honestly not a huge fan of either of these episodes. Don't get me wrong, because I still (mostly) enjoy the heck out of any and all SNW episodes. But these are certainly not the episodes I expected to see this late in the game.

Unfortunately for "Charades," I really don't enjoy the humor. Good setup, granted. But I'm just not a fan of the style of humor. So, that's a 4th vote for "Charades.". And I believe that makes "Children of the Comet" the winner.
