The Least Disliked Episode 2023: ENT Season 1

I actually like all these episodes- but I’m going to remove Vox Sola just for the campiness at parts and because I like other Hoshi stories more. Fun episode but the others have better lasting quality.

Fight or Flight
The Andorian Incident
Silent Enemy
Shuttlepod One
Fallen Hero

Fight or Flight is out. Archer is bored and endangers the ship and crew and all for nothing. They just wait until the killers and friends of the victims show up and Hoshi has 15 seconds to learn how to say "It wasn't us, shoot them" in alienese. Had they not been there the two alien ships still would have encountered each other. Once again T'Pol was right, "not our business, let's go". That's not a very heroic attitude but unlike Archer T'Pol understands that space is dangerous and Enterprise not a particularly advanced ship.
Archer was basically hanging out in a serial killer dungeon waiting for either the killer or the family of the victims to show up because nothing interesting had happened for TWO WEEKS. What could go wrong?

I'm still bitter that the show made me get excited by casting Scott Bakula as the captain and then making Archer an unlikable doofus in over his head who shouldn't be in command of anything.

TV Guide should have hired you to write the synopsis. That is a very apt description.

I like Silent Enemy for seeing aliens who didn't want to communicate with the crew, and Archer had to be a little tougher to make the situation work. However, it's not an S1 stand out compared to the remaining 3 episodes.

The Andorian Incident
Shuttlepod One
Fallen Hero

The best two episodes remain, I'll kill The Andorian Incident because I like it slightly less.
I used to dislike Shuttled One because the "Two characters stuck in a place thinking they might die" thing is a bit old but I've come to really appreciate the episode. That the guys think Enterprise has been destroyed adds a new twist to an old story and I appreciate how it developed Trip and Reed as characters.

Shuttlepod One wins.

This was exactly my experience too. I not only wasn’t that interested in Shuttlepod One but I’d skip it on rewatches. But more recently when I saw it I really appreciated it for the Trip and Reed relationship and how you really get to know them in a way Enterprise is sometimes reluctant to let you get to know the characters. It’s a worthy winner. Even if Shran is gonna come for you now. Your love of Vulcans, voting off his introduction… ;)
