The Least Disliked Episode 2023: DISCO Season 3

Our addictive biyearly game of rapid elimination returns - now with more shows than ever. It's generally a lot of fun, providing a chance to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favourite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode just because you feel it would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win. Pretty simple. Enjoy!

Big fan of this season! I think “Unification III” drops the ball a bit, by bringing us back to Vulcan and only showing us Disco sets (season 4 and the AR wall took care of that, of course)

The Emerald Chain didn't really feel like a thoroughly developed threat and combined with one or two confusing issues presented, I'm voting for The Hope is You (II).

[Farscape One]

This season was a major improvement over the previous two.

The Burn was a good idea... made completely stupid when they made the cause be a crying child. "Su'Kal" is eliminated.

I actually think the Su'Kal thing was THIS close to working. It was the right kind of idea, they just needed a few more tweaks in the execution.

I'll eliminate "There Is A Tide...", for wasting the potential of that Vance/Osyraa conflict.

I'll go with The Sanctuary next. I love Booker as a character, and he's a much better love match for Burnham than Tyler was. That said, the episode with his home planet is dull. As mentioned in another post, the Emerald Chain wasn't a good adversary.

Taking out "Scavengers".

It's just a meh episode, but I also hated the idea of the new nacelles being detached. I don't really like the design of the ship, to be honest, but I just find the idea of detachable nacelles to be ludicrous.

Oh god, I fucking hate those detachable nacelles as well. Also, I feel like we've seen them break or cause problems a million times since then. They don't seem like much of an improvement.

"Terra Firma II" LOVE the first half, and of my god that reveal of the Guardian, but once the goodbyes start in, it's some of the worst writing on Disco yet. It's an ending so terrible it suffocates the rest of the ep.

All those speeches from the bridge officers about how much Georgiou meant to them! It was absurd.

They established ONE relationship between Georgiou and the little people -- she had that thing with Linus! And he is the ONLY one missing from her memorial!

The Hope is You (I) is a pretty good start to the season, and the 32nd Century, there are just better episodes left.

Taking out "Terra Firma".

Yeoh always steals the show, but the Mirror Universe has been done too much... or more accurately, far too few of those episodes are good. (In DISCO, for certain.)

Despite this one being good, I think the other episodes are a bit stronger.

My impression of "Die Trying" has improved over the years, but there's still an awkwardness to the storytelling. The other three all flow much better.
