The least disliked episode 2021 - TNG Season One

BlueStuff

Rear Admiral
Our addictive biyearly game of rapid elimination returns - now able to include Disco's third season as well as the debut years of Picard and Lower Decks. It's generally a lot of fun, providing a chance to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode just because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

I'm goning to remove The Last Outpost. There's not much of a plot, Data can't solve a toy puzzle, and the simian portrayal of the Ferengi with their energy whips is cringe-inducing.

Hands down, "Code of Honor", which is offensive in every possible way. The idea of a planet with black people is stupid (just as a planet with white people) but in this example, we have all the clichés of racist movies (like jungle movies or great white hunter movies) and the plot is completely unbelievable, I mean people with customs dating back to the stone age have discovered a vaccine for a disease that happens on ANOTHER PLANET!!!

Plus to add insult to insult, Picard says, you know what you people remind me of? The Chinese!!! Yeah right!!!

Skin of Evil is outta here - the entire second half is so saccharine it beggars belief. It would feel over the top if it were commemorating the death of a beloved character at the end of a full seven-season run, let alone just under a year of Tasha Yar.

Removing Lonely Among Us.

Farewell to "Justice," or, as it used to be known in my Star Trek fan club, "The Planet of Blonde Jogging Bimbos." It's boring and talky, the 80s hairstyles hurt my eyes, and Tasha Yar is shite at assessing planets for shore leave. "The penalty for every crime is death" is a pretty big thing to miss.

I liked the initial mystery of Aldea, the execution was vastly underwhelming. So When the Bough Breaks is history...

"Angel One" because Riker dressing like a manwhore is a bit too much. So what if they were dealing with the Ferengi, should all women go naked? There's a limit to how much you should indulge in stupid customs.

There's no refuge here for "Haven." I was thoroughly turned off by the way everyone accepted it was just Troi's duty to comply with the arranged marriage to a guy she didn't even know -- I'm sorry, I thought this was the 23rd century, not the 19th.

Nothing excuses "The Big Goodbye". It's an episode were Picard larps a crappy noir story. If I wanted to see some "hard boiled detective" nonsense (which I don't) there's enough, better written material, you don't need to derail a SciFi show set on a spaceship into some McDonald's version of a detective story.

Hide and Q is by far the worse of the Q episodes. (and correcting the list because someone copied the wrong list. didn't realize that someone had posted right before them.)

"The Naked Now" gets clothes and leaves the list.

Doing the exact same plot of a TOS episode so early was not a good idea.

"Symbiosis" fails because of that horrible "Just say no" scene that the producers just had to include. Clumsy and ham-handed are about the kindest descriptors I can come up with.

Too Short a Season was just too long . De-aging? ugh. A 24th century Starfleet Captain giving away weapons tech? Ugh.

Heart of Glory, the episode is just annoying, there's zero drama in the question if Worf will help the other klingons to steal half the Enterprise, that plot falls completely flat. And 30 years after watching the episode first it still annoys me how incompetent security is, the klingons just assemble a disruptor out of the parts they had with them? Starfleet security is famously incompetent but how little sense this made was obvious to me even as a child.

"The Neutral Zone" is being violated off this list.

Despite bringing back the Romulans, the plot of the 20th century humans didn't seem to go with the rest of the episode.

Where No One Has Gone Before sailed outta the galaxy and beyond. It should have stayed there. What with the fraud engineer, the phasing alien, and the the coronation of Wesley, Boy Genius, it obviously didn't know where it was.

I can't believe 11001001 has lasted this long. That episode spends far too much time on Picard and Riker flirting around with a holographic bar floozy. And the scene where Riker selects his wanking material is creepy as all hell.
