The least disliked episode 2021 - ENT Season Three

BlueStuff

Our addictive biyearly game of rapid elimination returns - now able to include Disco's third season as well as the debut years of Picard and Lower Decks. It's generally a lot of fun, providing a chance to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode just because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

Loving "One" from Voyager as much as I do, I particularly can't stand it's aggressively incompetent remake, "Doctor's Orders." Hate everything about this ep. Particularly the way they have to spend 20 minutes telegraphing "THIS T'POL IS HALLUCINATED!!!!!!!!!" before they finally "shockingly" reveal it.

Extinction. Another example of Enterprise's bizarre obsession with doing vastly inferior remakes of episodes from the previous Trek shows, combined with an ending that features Archer's moral grandstanding at its worst. Yes, by all means, keep a sample of the pathogen that could transform practically the entire crew into apes in a matter of minutes. I mean, what's the worst that could happen if it were accidentally released? Oh, yeah, Earth getting blown to kingdom come while T'Pol's running around trying to cure your negligent backsides.

Ah, poor "Carpenter Street." It literally might be my favorite Enterprise episode! I don't know why I find it so much fun.

There's another "weird visit to random Earth society" episode this season I can't stand -- "North Star." This episode baffles me -- WHY does it exist? It's such a bizarre tangent idea for a story within this larger arc.

E² is decent enough, it's a rip-off of the much better Children of Time. It's placement in the season is odd as well, as it seem to slow momentum in the last part of the season.

Exile. There's far worse episodes even in this season, but it just feels very lethargically paced, and it kinda has the feel of a TOS S3 episode.

Raijin is typical of season three - it's well-produced and looks good. There just isn't a lot to it, unfortunately.

"Similitude" because of the horrible idea of creating a sapient being and then force them to sacrifice themselves to save another. It's Tuvix except worse because at least Tuvix was an accident, Janeway didn't deliberately create him and then asked him to die with a smile on his face. and Archer berating Sim because he found him in Trip's quarters! It's like there is not a shred of decency left in this guy.

"Hatchery" is such disappointing hack work. They set up a fascinating moral dilemma, then sidestep it entirely with an over-the-top possession plot. Fail.

Twilight, because the entire episode is written around the scene of earth's destruction, they wanted that as the teaser and constructed a plot to allow them to do it. But there's zero tension in the episode, will they succeed and prevent Archer's brainworm infection to change history or will they wipe out the Star Trek timeline as we know it and we'll see humanity on the brink of extinction for the rest of the series ... come on.

"Impulse" aka Zombie Vulcans or is it Vulcan zombies? It's just " Night of the Undead" only not as good.

I know it's a two-time champion, and I recall people getting upset when I eliminated it in 2019, so apologies, but I find "Azati Prime" to be nothing but a cheat. It's all about building to that shockingly devastating ending... which they don't actually work their way out, it's a fake-out. I find myself actively angry at this episode for it's dishonest audience manipulation.

You know, the Xindi arc really does NOT do it for me, I'm realizing. I hate all the parts everyone else loves! And I love the parts others can't stand -- "Carpenter Street", "Raijin."

The Xindi was a pretty standard season-opener, playing it safe instead of being different. Anamoly should have been the opener.

"Stratagem" because they cribbed "Mission Impossible". MI did it twice, once on a train and once on a submarine. Same idea, one guy fooled into believing that he was going somewhere while being stationary the whole time. Plus, needless to say, MI did it better.

"Zero Hour" Trek's stupidest cliffhanger.

The Council. A solid enough episode, but it's one of those that you get every now and again in these long-form story arcs, where the episode really just serves to provide setup and exposition for the more action-heavy episodes that follow.
