The Least Disliked 2-Part/2-Hour Star Trek Episode

Chain of Command is out. The Enterprise crew, led by Riker, act like pampered, spoiled babies when Jellico is in command.

TNG, Season 3 & 4: “The Best Of Both Worlds”
TNG, Season 7: “All Good Things…”
DS9, Season 2: “The Maquis”
DS9, Season 3: “Improbable Cause/The Die Is Cast”
DS9, Season 4: “The Way Of The Warrior”
DS9, Season 4: “Homefront/Paradise Lost”
DS9, Season 5: “In Purgatory’s Shadow/By Inferno’s Light”
DS9, Season 6: "Favor The Bold/Sacrifice Of Angels"
VOY, Season 3 & 4: “Scorpion”
ENT, Season 4: “In A Mirror, Darkly"

"Favor The Bold/Sacrifice Of Angels" Is out, as the end of the occupation arc these episodes don't really work on their own, they are nominally a two parter but they're also kinda not.

TNG, Season 3 & 4: “The Best Of Both Worlds”
TNG, Season 7: “All Good Things…”
DS9, Season 2: “The Maquis”
DS9, Season 3: “Improbable Cause/The Die Is Cast”
DS9, Season 4: “The Way Of The Warrior”
DS9, Season 4: “Homefront/Paradise Lost”
DS9, Season 5: “In Purgatory’s Shadow/By Inferno’s Light”
VOY, Season 3 & 4: “Scorpion”
ENT, Season 4: “In A Mirror, Darkly"

"The Maquis" never really did for me what others seemed to appreciate. Bye, bye.

TNG, Season 3 & 4: “The Best Of Both Worlds”
TNG, Season 6: “Chain Of Command”
TNG, Season 7: “All Good Things…”
DS9, Season 3: “Improbable Cause/The Die Is Cast”
DS9, Season 4: “The Way Of The Warrior”
DS9, Season 4: “Homefront/Paradise Lost”
DS9, Season 5: “In Purgatory’s Shadow/By Inferno’s Light”
VOY, Season 3 & 4: “Scorpion”
ENT, Season 4: “In A Mirror, Darkly"

Scorpion is going, and with it the last Voyager two parter. It's a neat enough story but overall I dislike what Voyager did with the Borg. In TNG, they were not to be negotiated with. You could not humanise them. They were a force of nature. I also do not believe the Borg would have survived as long as they have without some capability to creatively think and invent with the trillion or so brains they have merged in to their hive mind. The idea they could be out-thought by a hundred or so Starfleet officers using their own nanoprobe technology is a flimsy premise at best.

Also, @Vger23, Chain of Command already went, so I'm removing that again too (I think you mis-pasted :vulcan:)

TNG, Season 3 & 4: “The Best Of Both Worlds”
TNG, Season 7: “All Good Things…”
DS9, Season 3: “Improbable Cause/The Die Is Cast”
DS9, Season 4: “The Way Of The Warrior”
DS9, Season 4: “Homefront/Paradise Lost”
DS9, Season 5: “In Purgatory’s Shadow/By Inferno’s Light”
ENT, Season 4: “In A Mirror, Darkly"

Hard to pick but In A Mirror, Darkly has to go mainly for being set in the mirror universe that fails to connect with the rest of the series even though I love the callback to The Tholian Web.

I'll take off ENT's last episode. In A Mirror Darkly isn't quite as strong as what's left. I also think that it never needed to be two episodes long.

Having said that though, it was probably a two-parter to help pay for sets.

EDIT - NovaStar beat me to it by a few seconds. In that case I'll eliminate The Way of the Warrior.

It's one of my favourites and is eminently quotable, but it ultimately threw the Klingons into the DS9 story in a big way, that was never meant to happen.

TNG, Season 3 & 4: “The Best Of Both Worlds”
TNG, Season 7: “All Good Things…”
DS9, Season 3: “Improbable Cause/The Die Is Cast”
DS9, Season 4: “Homefront/Paradise Lost”
DS9, Season 5: “In Purgatory’s Shadow/By Inferno’s Light”

Removing Way of the Warrior as it’s the only remaining non-top shelf episode. It brought Worf to DS9 and it gets credit for that but ot’s A clumsy episode. The entire Klingon war was mishandled, we’re led to believe the Khitomer treaty is that flimsy. Knowing Martok was a changeling redeems it a little but not much. The Klingon conflict was forced into a story it didn’t belong to justify Worf being called in.

In defense of Scorpion, I just watched it, and the reason they gave for the Borg not coming up with the idea is they solely learn by assimilation.

TNG, Season 3 & 4: “The Best Of Both Worlds”
TNG, Season 7: “All Good Things…”
DS9, Season 3: “Improbable Cause/The Die Is Cast”
DS9, Season 4: “Homefront/Paradise Lost”
DS9, Season 5: “In Purgatory’s Shadow/By Inferno’s Light”

Edit: Removing Mirror for the two people who axed it at the same time I was writing this post.

Oh I know they say that, I just don't buy it, especially given their behaviour in later episodes when it comes to Omega (Seven suggests they are capable of theorising, experimenting, testing, and so on). I just can't square it away.

I eliminated Way of the Warrior earlier. Originally I voted for In A Mirror, Darkly, but I was beaten to the punch. I edited my post and removed WOTW instead.

TNG, Season 3 & 4: “The Best Of Both Worlds”
TNG, Season 7: “All Good Things…”
DS9, Season 3: “Improbable Cause/The Die Is Cast”
DS9, Season 5: “In Purgatory’s Shadow/By Inferno’s Light”

These are great ones left. I will remove "HOMEFRONT"/"PARADISE LOST", only because the other DS9 ones had more lasting impact on the series.

Improbable Cause/Die Is Cast. The others were much more memorable and I consider them to be the Best of Star Trek.

TNG, Season 3 & 4: “The Best Of Both Worlds”
TNG, Season 7: “All Good Things…”
DS9, Season 5: “In Purgatory’s Shadow/By Inferno’s Light”

Weak second half dooms "The Best of Both Worlds".

TNG, Season 7: “All Good Things…”
DS9, Season 5: “In Purgatory’s Shadow/By Inferno’s Light”

Both are amazing. I will eliminate All Good Things... purely for the technobabble that was a bit too persistent in the second half.

The winner:

DS9, Season 5: “In Purgatory’s Shadow/By Inferno’s Light”

THANK YOU to everyone who participated in this one! This was my first attempt at posting a game, and I loved watching the eliminations unfold and reading everyone's thoughts. And I love the ultimate winner.

About to post another themed Least Disliked game in this forum, hope everyone will come join there as well...

EDIT: Just posted the next one: the Least Disliked Introduction Of Recurring Alien Antagonists

As elimination games go, I liked the old hurt/heal format better. A single poster couldn't unilaterally eliminate something.
