The latest freecreditreport.com commercial

Bad Bishop

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Ladies, how do you like the latest ad?

"Well I married my dream girl
I married my dream girl
But she didn't tell me that her credit was bad..."

They don't live in a proper home, and it's all her fault!

The guy needs to be introduced to the concept of personal responsibility. In a previous ad, the lead singer blamed his woes on identity theft. If not for a hacker who stole his identity, he would not be dressed up as a pirate in a restaurant, selling chowder and iced tea to tourists.

I wonder how the new bride likes having her husband's two slacker buddies around. They are in all the commercials. No wonder she seems a bit annoyed right now.

It's a commercial, it's not supposed to make sense.

I hate to say it, but that first tune was kind of catchy and is often stuck in my head.

I think freecreditreport.com wants people to have more personal responsibility. Like checking their credit report so that doesn't fuck up their future. The guy is basically a lovable irresponsible loser who didn't make sure his credit was good before making a big investment or financial move.

Those ads are cute. But the first one (pirate restaurant) is still the best. The old lady just makes it. :rommie:

Ironically, most of the people or situations I've known personally regarding bad credit, it was guys who have bad credit. Women tend to be more financially responsible. Guys think they can be irresponsible and then something magical will happen and save them, or some damn thing. ;)

Those ads really do make a lot of sense, and seem very well thought through, underneath the slacker exterior. They cover all the bases that the target market (18-35 or so, I'd estimate) would be anxious about: job, car, home.

This new one is fine, but I liked the last one better with the little used subcompact....

No, they make NO sense at all. He's got bad credit, so he's working in a restaurant? Stupid. He should have checked his wife's credit report so he wouldn't have married her? Stupid. Only the car one makes the least bit of sense.

Not to mention that this company, and other like them, are confusing people over the actual government mandated free credit report web site, where you can get your credit reports actually free, not having to join some useless pay service to do it. These commercials should be banned for this deceptiveness.

Actually, the "married my dream girl" was the first one, then they retired it for a while and only recently brought it back.

The seafood restaurant one has an odd moment in it. While they're playing they cut away to a white-haired old woman bouncing her head back and forth in a jaunty fashion. Then the bass player says "yeeee-haw" and in the next shot the old lady looks totally PISSED OFF, like she's shooting daggers out her eyes at the bass guy.

Watch for it...once I pointed it out to my mom she sees it every time now.

Well, if you are the victim of identity theft, you don't have to pay off the fraudulent debts. I thought it was referring to the relatively small number of jobs where you need to pass a credit check. But then being a bank teller isn't much better than working in a restaurant.

OMG! You saw that too!??!!!! My hubby and I saw that the first go around. think it is hysterical that she does that...:guffaw:

He can't legally check the credit of his girlfriend anyway. He can only check when she becomes his wife and by then it is too late.

It just a commercial, but it hardly isnt new for them. I saw this several times 6 months ago. Maybe it was a mistake?

I saw this as well. Numerous times!

BTW: Nice lip syncing people! :)

I wouldn't be surprised if the life of this guy in the commercials turns into a sitcom.

My girl caused me to get a dump apartment, i've got a lousy job and crappy car.

Yeah, its not new. It started about the same time as the restaurant one. The car one was the third, a bit later. They just show the restaurant one more because its better.

The lead actor from the commercials does not speak english. He's French canadian. But he does seem a likeable kind of guy. I think he could have a future.
