The Last of Us (HBO)

I watched episode 3. It was a sweet episode but it could have done with more Clickers. Still feels like I'm just watching The Walking Dead again.

For episode 9....
It was real!

Really? I have the exact opposite feeling, i can count the number of Clickers appearing in the show on one hand and it's always been terrifying. Walking Dead numbed you with sheer numbers and the heroes slicing through them like it was morning practice.

Damn, that was an awesome finale with quite a few twists, Joel unleashed ( never ever ever get on this man's bad side!) and a quintessential moral question everyone has to answer for him/herself.

Possibilities are wide open for season 2 and i'm curious what they will do, reports indicate that the second game contains more material than would fit into a single season and they may fill in the time between the first and second game with something of their own. Over the coming weeks and months will learn more i'm sure but this has been an amazing season throughout, no stinker of an episode and some truly heartbreaking and tense moments.

Well if you believe for a second The Fireflies wouldn’t have fucked it up and made it all for nothing.

Because it’s really hard to buy the poorly supplied rag tag group on their last legs who pretty much have only ever accomplished making things worse (which is saying something when a military junta is the other option) is the last hope for humanity. Especially when their brilliant idea involves killing the only known immune person.

Someone recently brought up Torchwood Children of Earth, and it struck me that Captain Jack Harkness was faced with a very similar dilemma and cam to a very different conclusion than Joel.

That was brutal. Holy cow!

While I know of the game, I'm not familiar with much of the game play. That said, I don't think a flame thrower would have been the most effective way to kill off the Fireflies. LOL

It’s what I used. I assumed that what everyone did. :)

I really like how they did Joel's action scene. I was expecting a huge violent, tense blow out to end the season and instead got a slow walk through the hospital. No fake tension. Calm, classical music playing. Joel seemingly unemotional, terminator-ing his way to Ellie. It's a TV show with more seasons. Even if you don't know the games, you know he's going to get to her. So not even pretending otherwise was an excellent choice.

I liked the ending a lot. I didn't finish the game but I knew generally how it ended. It really is the perfect game for a TV adaptation, because it's one of the most cinematic games in history but gameplay is only so-so.

The one thing from the game I wish they had brought into the series they didn't was the thing about clickers being killable by luring them into fires. Having them strategically avoid a few by improvising fires would have made for a great scene true to the gameplay.

That's so cool, I had just assumed it was CGI.
I'm so glad they had that scene in the episode, it was my favorite moment in the game.

Not really that open since even if they change more than they did for Season 1, we can assume they'll still hit at least the biggest plot points from the second game.

This was a great finale, I was curious how they were going to handle to big fight at the hospital, and the way they did it was great.
The flashback to Ellie's birth was new, and gave a nice biy of backstory to Marlene. Now, I'm just curious how Ellie went from being with the Fireflies to being at the FEDRA school.
Fun fact for people not familiar with the game, Ellie's mom was played by Ashley Johnson, the actress who played Ellie in the games.
After the seeing Shimmer and maybe seeing Dina in Jackson, I was really hoping for an appearance by Anny in the hospital, since we know from the dreams/flashbacks in the second game that she was in the hospital with her dad.

Marlene put her in the school to keep her safe. They talk about it at the start of the season. Plus, means she doesn't have to take care of her, AND Marlene gets Fedra to train the next gen of Fireflies.

I had read that, but I was amazed how similar they look. Considering Bella is playing much younger than her real age, they could be sisters. Looking at how Ashley looks in the "real world" however, it seems they did quite a bit of make up work to have her look like Bella. Either way, nice job!

I was also really impressed with that. Probably more than a little cgi.

Wow! That's something I've wanted to see in a situation like this on TV for a long time. No hesitation.

"Unhook her."

"No I won't, she can save humanity. You don't..." <BANG!> (Headshot)

"Unhook her."

(Remaining two Nurses QUICKLY comply...)

{Although yeah sorry but IF there's a chemical being made coursing through her body that confers immunity to her - sorry, but is should be obtainable via blood serum.)
