Set in Seattle, Washington, the series follows the police investigation, the grieving family and the suspects, after the homicide of a young girl, Rosie Larsen. Each of the 13 episodes will chronicle one day of the investigation. In comparison to the original Danish series, executive producer Veena Sud explained, "We're creating our own world. We are using the Danish series as a blueprint, but we are kind of diverging and creating our own world, our world of suspects and, potentially, ultimately who killed Rosie Larsen." Sud describes the series as "slow-burn storytelling in a sense that every moment that we don't have to prettify or gloss over or make something necessarily easy to digest, that we're able to go to all sorts of places that are honest, and dark, and beautiful and tragic, in a way that is how a story should be told."

  • Mireille Enos as Sarah Linden, the lead homicide detective
  • Billy Campbell as Darren Richmond, politician running for mayor of Seattle
  • Joel Kinnaman as Stephen Holder, Sarah's homicide detective partner
  • Michelle Forbes as Mitch Larsen, Rosie's mother
  • Brent Sexton as Stanley Larsen, Rosie's father
  • Kristin Lehman as Gwen Eaton, Darren's lover and his campaign adviser
  • Eric Ladin as Jamie Dempsey, Darren's campaign manager

Norse Noir eh? Or Nortwest Gothika like Twin Peaks? I live in Seattle so this will be interesting. I don't normally watch procedural's but I'll make an exception for this. I wasn't too fond of Rubicon so the words slow burn has me a little apprehensive. I'll definitely give this one a shot though.

I've set the dvr to record this; I'll see how it goes. Never saw the original. Although, I think this would work better as a miniseries, rather than a series. What if it's a success? Do they drag the investigation on further, or have ANOTHER murder to investigate?

never saw the original loved twin peaks . I have set this to my DVR , It looks like two episodes will run sunday . I am going to record all 13 episodes and then watch the series . I Love amc programming . I usually stick to sci fi but if a murder series comes along or vampire series I'll jump on it . this looks good . do you need to see the original series to understand this ? and will this be any way similar to twin peaks story ark?

I have been rewatching season 1 of Veronica Mars. I could get into a snow (it's only 13 episodes) seasons in which we get clues every week but other things are gonig on.

And Billy Campbell is already major, they need to watch The 4400. ;)

man we did'nt see this much rain on frasier . I loved the pilot it was a way different show than I normaly watch even for a cop show . did any one think the female detective was a bit of a cold fish torwards the parents . before they were supects and after they were cleared .

I enjoyed the first two eps. Interesting to see Billy Campbell playing another morally ambiguous Seattle politician! :)

Speaking as an expatriate Seattleite, they seemed to be getting the details right, even if they did overdo the rain a bit. (Seattle rain tends to drizzle rather than pour down in sheets.) But, yeah, Mercer Island (where the sleazy boyfriend lives) is rich and upscale, and Tukwila somewhat less so . . . .

Yeah they embellished on the rain a bit. Hasn't rained like that in a at least a month, haha. I'm starting to get into this though. Ahh Jordan Collier.

I thought it had great acting and realism, especially in the performances by Forbes and Sexton when they found out their daughter was dead.

Though I find Sarah's partner absolutely irritating and detestable. Him being a main character almost killed the whole thing for me; he's that unlikable. Which was probably their intention, but still, he's hard to take.

Sarah should take her son (who was young Shaun Spencer from 'Psych') to come along on the investigation with her. ;)

Watched this last night and I like it so far. Both my wife and I got a "realistic Twin Peaks" kind of vibe from it. I thought Michele Forbes did a great job as the mom. Lots of NuBSG love on the show actually. I was glad to see the guy that played Leoben on NuBSG there as Sarah's fiancee, and the rich spoiled former boyfriend was on Caprica I think.

I second Locutus' thoughts regarding Sarah's partner. Really can't stand his charactor so far. Looking forward to seeing more of this show next week though.

I've got AMC free for about 5 more weeks, so I'll have to find the episodes online after that. No way I'm going to upgrade two packages to get AMC.

It looks interesting. The first two episodes haven't hooked me completely yet, but few series ever do with their pilot. We'll see.

I liked it. Couple of quick thoughts:
The lead detective chick (I am terrible with names) kept reminding me of an older, more sullen Amy Pond.
Great use of Seattle/pacific northwest. I could watch the show just for that.
Billy Campbell - does the guy not age? He doesn't look much older than he did in The Rocketeer.
Who dunnit? This kind of show usually keeps things ambiguous enough so that they can pretty much wait until the last episode to choose the murderer. Saying that, I am going to go with Billy Campbell's assistant/girlfriend trying to save his political career.
