The Killer Inside Me

Anyone seen this? It's pretty disturbing in places, but well-made and interesting. Much of it was filmed here in Oklahoma, so it was kind of cool to see some familiar scenery. They really should film some more period movies around here. There's a creepy little town called Guthrie (Where a good portion of this was shot) that doesn't look like it's changed since the '50s.

I saw the trailer in theatre, and the reviews on At the Movies sounded good or at least interesting. If it ever shows up locally, I'm going to try to catch it.

If you get "IFC in theaters" on Demand it's on there. I watched it from the comfort of my own living room.

I really want to see this, but I probably won't get a chance until it comes out on DVD.

I've read the Jim Thompson novel on which this movie is based, BTW. Good book--one of his best.

Some other Jim Thompson novels that have been adapted for the big screen include:

The Grifters (1990--great film)
The Getaway (1972--with Steve McQueen)
The Getaway (1993--heard it wasn't very good, haven't seen it)
After Dark, My Sweet (1990--good, but not great)
Coup de Torchon (1981--pretty good French adaptation of Pop. 1280 set in Northwest Africa (!))

was also done in 1976 with Stacy Keach as Deputy Ford. Not very good, even though it's got a lot of good old timers: Keenan Wynn, John Dehner, John Carradine, Royal Dano, Charles McGraw.

The book is great. I don't hold out a lot of hope for this new version, either, but I'd like to be surprised.
