The K9 Teaser Trailer

Why bring back the "real" k-9 for the proper series, then give the kids a shitty "texta" version? i am sure they would recognise the real k-9 better...
Bob Baker doesn't own the rights to K-9's physical appearance, since that was done by a BBC designer, just the concept of K-9. Presumably the makers of K-9 had to negotiate for the little they did make use of.

The BBV (unauthorized by the BBC) audios that featured K-9 didn't use his likeness on the cover, just a picture of John Leeson! (And Lalla Ward playing an unnamed character called "mistress.")

ETA: Never mind, the second audio did have him... though he doesn't look quite right.

Yeah, I've read Paul Cornell's opinion before. And, while I'm more or less just suggesting that televised Who is the only canon, I'm aware of the inconsistencies throughout the series. Basically, while there is no real "bible", per se, the aired episodes are the adventures of the Doctor that are considered to be the most "pure" and "canon" since the televised medium is the originator of the entire franchise. It wasn't until the advent of the novels that all the fans started trying to drag in every alternative media as a piece of the story.

Personally, I'm a purist... ;)

Nope not me, though wish it was! :) Doesn't look to bad... but the show seems a tad redundant and almost looks like it's designed to compete with Sarah Jane, when in my opinion it would have been better if they could have integrated it with Sarah Jane. I could even stand the new CGI dog in that show instead, as long as K9 wasn't a deus ex machina at the end of every episode.

Ditto.

I know the UK has some convoluted copyright laws...but I don't understand why some arrangement couldn't have been made to share rights if both parties agreed to the terms...

Both shows would benefit from a tie-in...even a loose one..."K-9" could advertise directly that it's the Doctor's K-9 (instead of hint at a non-existant connection in thiny veiled misleading ads like "WHO's A Good Dog?") and a Who connection would draw in more viewers - such as oldschool Who fans like myself who won't be watching it now specifically because it's not connected to Who and *our* K-9 - as well as kids like mine who are new Who fans and LOVE K-9...

...and BBC could use K-9 on Who and Sarah Jane more often - maybe even as a regular on Sarah Jane, or at least a frequent guest star (and I really miss him and I think that's the one thing "Sarah Jane" is lacking...)

But sadly, it isn't so...and I'm hoping that "K-9" will flop badly and the owners of the rights to the character will see their mistake and after be more willing to let BBC use of K-9 again...

could ITV pay the estate of Terry Nation ALOT of money and have the Daleks (as we know them) appear on Primeval?
