The James Bond Film Discussion Thread (With Bonus Lazenby!)

Between First Light and Hurricane Room, I've been doodling my fanfic Bond 26 again, cannot settle on a title, TO DO AND DIE, FALSE FLAG or BETTER THE DEVIL

I haven't played the new James Bond game, but I watched gameplay from a Turkish YouTuber. It doesn't feel like a James Bond game at all. However, the fact that a team in Türkiye worked on the game is something I liked. Since the owners of the development company are Turkish, the company has offices in Türkiye. Thousands of video game designers from those offices in Türkiye worked on this game.

You're very much entitled to your opinion, but you're wrong. It very much does feel like a Bond game and is getting really well received in the Bond fan community. But then again, I liked Everything or Nothing, and Bloodstone, and even the Daniel Craig GoldenEye remake.

More reminiscent of previously watched action-adventure games such as Uncharted; likely due to the absence of a suit.

I'm watching gameplay videos but waiting a few months because right out the gate is never the best time to buy imho. Wait for bugs to be ironed out, if the devs care enough that is.

Okay, it’s actually a Chanel ad directed by Alfonso Cuarón, but they knew what they were doing.

The Criterion Channel has added Dr. No, From Russia with Love, and Goldfinger to their channel.
Does it have all the extras? Didn't they also do Thunderball?

I swear those Laser Discs and the first box sets of Dr. No through License to Kill on DVD are the best special features of any film OF ALL TIME.

They all had the perspective of age, they had enough of the participants who were still alive, and it didn't seem like they were an MGM / Sony / Whoever production.

Perfect.

(I hope that I hadn't done this rant before. If I did I hope I was consistent.)

With the possible exception of FIGHT CLUB.

Assuming the features differed from the Bond DVDs we got in the late '90s and early '00s, either version was quite comprehensive.

Criterion only ever released the first three movies on Laserdisc, but had to pull them because EON Productions wasn't overly happy with the very honest commentary tracks on those first releases.

I'm so glad I snapped up copies of all of them with those "banned" tracks for my collection. I doubt they'll ever see the light of day again.

They more or less ported the features from the LD to the box set DVDs. I owned Thunderball and Goldeneye, so those were the ones I could compare.

I'm sure someone knows where the audio is. (I think it's probably somewhere upthread.) EON made Criterion re-release the discs but Criterion would send you the audio if you asked.

I forget what the hubub was about.

EDIT: OK, apparently Thunderball and Goldeneye were done on LD by MGM/UA and those got ported to DVD. So I don't know what the LD of DN, FRWL, and GF were like although I know I saw DN at some point.
