The James Bond Film Discussion Thread (With Bonus Lazenby!)

Tonight's soundtrack.

I love the For Your Eyes Only soundtrack so much. I know it's Bill Conti and some fans cringe at this movie's soundtrack, but it hits me right in the feels every time I listen to it.

In my opinion, no matter who makes the new James Bond film, the story should combine the Bond perspective from the first 20 films with something similar to Amazon’s Jack Ryan, focusing on Bond hunting terrorists.

Yes, love all the Bond films, but the humor and the more sexist side of the older Bond movies appeal more.

So you want the movies to be more sexist? I'm not sure that's something that any producer would want to tack their sails too. I love Ye Old Bond, and grew up with Bank Holiday Bonds, but if there was anything that needs to be brought back, it wouldn't be the sexism!

Okay.

No spoilers, unsurprisingly, but Steven Knight talks a little about his licence to reinvent Bond:
Give me Walken or give me zilch. Surely over-the-top whacked-out Bond is the only possible avenue to take now. Or as Chris W. himself said in DEER HUNTER, '''S'matta with you?''

The pre-title sequence of First Light had leaked, but play-throughs have now been pulled and IO have released the first 13 minutes (the full playthrough clocked in at about 30 minutes) ...

And ... Hurricane Room has now been released. I picked my copy up on Monday (God Bless Waterstones and their avoidance of street release dates) but only starting it today as I took the past six days to read the latest Richard Hannay novel.

History has been... less than kind to James Bond aiding the mujaheddin...

Well he doesn't really aid them, more the reverse, plus irrespective of what came afterwards, in 1987 Bond working with the Mujahadeen against the Soviet Union is hardly inconceivable given the UK (amongst many other nations) were actively supporting the Afghans against the Soviets.
