The intro for DSC if it were done in '90s style

Interesting...
Not sure about the music, but the attention to detail was great.
:techman:
Would like to see it done with the actual Discovery theme music for comparison.

Yeah, I like it, definitely kickin' it old school. This seems so familiar and frankly, old. Trek has sure come a long way.

Yeah ok I really liked that! Goes on a little bit at the end, perhaps two shots too many of the jump drive, but actually it looked really good overall.

Incidentally, I always thought it was odd including the ranks in the title sequences. Just highlighted how much of a crew roster trope the shows' premises were. The ranks so rarely had direct relevance to a story, and yet they are one of the pieces of information they chose to include in the titles every week. DS9 even skipped first names in favour of more space for ranks, 'Terry Farrell as Lt. Commander Dax'.

Yeah that's not bad at all. I get a lot of Voyager out of that, the lettering of course, but the music as well.

I like! And, it amuses me they included Detmer in the credits, since in the 90s someone like her would have been in the main cast despite not having anything relevant to contribute to any of the episodes beyond "Aye Sir" and associated bridge jargon.

The silliest thing they did was in DS9's final season, the first three episodes had Nicole de Boer listed as "Ensign Ezri Dax" and then for the remaining episodes, since she was officially assigned to the station and promoted, the credits were changed to now say "Lieutenant Ezri Dax." Really, they could have saved themselves some work by just listing "Nicole de Boer as Ezri Dax" for all the episodes and no one would have cared.

Incidentally, Voyager actually did drop the ranks in the credits starting in the fourth season, with the exception of "Kate Mulgrew as Captain Kathryn Janeway."

Voyager kind of did that gimmick too with the credits initially. Janeway is only ranked in "Caretaker", maybe reflecting how none of the cast are part of the Voyager crew up to that point. Then in "Parallax" it's only Torres that has no rank, as she's not made chief engineer until the end of the episode.

It's kind of ironic that the ranks are dropped in the Voyager credits but remained on DS9. Where DS9 is the one show the characters are most versatile in their roles, a lot of the Voyager crew are typically defined by their posts. Torres being an engineer usually gets episodes that have something to do with her job, whereas Dax being a science officer doesn't have a lot of episodes that focus on her job, in fact she even serves as helmsman on the Defiant.

Rare known fact: Captain is not only her rank but her actual first name.
Her parents had a lot of ambitions for her.
Got her into trouble at her first day at the academy, too.
