The Interpretation of Dreams Thread™!

Could have been worse...it could have been Tim Russert. Talking to you about your problems and giving savvy political advice from beyond the grave.

I had a dream I was floating in a light grey fog or mist and it felt cold...I heard music...I never heard before faintly...sound like classical music. Everything went black and I then notice am in a field at night...they sky was brilliant...no moon but I could see galaxies and all this colors in the sky...I was walling toward the woods that surrounded the field and could hear singing, a female voice...I see all these tiny white lights twinkling in the woods and the singing got louder...I could feel this tingle all over...everything was fuzzy after that and I woke up.

I always like dreams involving stars, outer space, celestial bodies, etc. Unfortunately, I rarely ever have them. There was something ethereal about your dream. The female voice/singing seemed to have a mesmerizing effect that it captivated your attention. I wonder what it represented, as if it's calling attention to something in your waking life. Seeing the stars and the vastness of space would reflect a certain fascination with the universe, or perhaps your surroundings.

Today I had a dream about My ex-girlfriend from High School...who is a lesbian now and haven't seen in 10 years. I was chilling with her and we were drinking gin...kinda like a night we had back in the day. I get a call from someone and we rush over to help this guy and girl I never met before...but seem to know them in the dream...we are looking up stuff online for something...the details are fuzzy now...I do remember my ex telling me disturbing things about her life and making feel bad for not being there when she needed me.

Ok I had the strangest dream today...

I was in my old house sitting talking with my parents for some reason they were going to bed early, I let the 2 cats in...that we currently have and were never in that old house...the fact that the cats are father and son my relate to this dream...I am in the living room alone watching tv and I notice behind me is me! The other me for some reason felt more like a spirit(ghost) and was letting the cats out the kitchen after I had closed the door...I get up and go over there and he was gone...I sit back in my chair and watch this basketball game on tv...next thing I know I am in the game...by the way this game is being taped on Valentines Day...when I was watching it on tv it in my chair it was like today...anyway this game is with a bunch of hot girls...who are awful by the way at basketball...after the game I am back in my house, in my room...I am laying in bed an I hear a sound like moaning and basic the typical noises a ghost makes when portrayed on Scooby Do...I am terrified and the room is very cold...I look up and the curtains have the shape of hands in them and they begin to tie themselves together...while coming right at me...I am at this point putting the covers over my head...cowering in fear...those horrible noise get louder and I wake up...It is strange how I felt cold in my dream but my room when I woke up was very hot.

[edit] Ironic...todays Cash 5 numbers...02-09-14-19-21...2/14 Valentines day...not sure if the other numbers are related...21 is a basketball game played by people...like with friends and what not...9 & 19...not sure about???

Cats are indoor-type pets and might represent your introversion and private nature. Your alternate self/spirit would like to set the cats free, so your subconscious could be telling you to get out more. The female basketball players and your watching the game would reflect your admiration for beautiful girls as well as your like for this sport. Ghosts might be manifestations of our own fears, so what you fear most is fear itself. ;)

Does anyone ever have really violent dreams? I don't get them often, but a few times a year I'll have a dream where some really terrible massacre or killing happens. Last night I had one where a young boy wrapped a baby up in a sheet and then beat it to death with a hammer. At first, when I woke up, the particulars of the dream seemed like one of those dreams I often have where I think it would make a great short story, but now that I have forgotten the particulars I'm just left with some strangely violent images.

I had an interesting dream where I found a concealed door in my house, and through it was another room that I didn't know I had. The room had shelves with a few old things from my childhood that have long been thrown away. The room also had a staircase going up into my loft space. When I went up these stairs, I found it was the same hole where the attic steps lead to from my landing.

I was a little confused, wondering if I go back down these steps, where will I end up? My landing or my new room?

Then one of my relatives arrived complaining that his vacuum cleaner had broken, and wanted to look at mine, because he was thinking of getting the same one but didn't know if it was any good. He wanted to try it out, so he brought this bag of fluff out of his pocket that he wanted to scatter on the floor and try out my vacuum cleaner with.

Then a doctor arrived who was examining my relative and concluded that his kidneys were not working properly, but a thorough investigation would be needed before treatment. I had to convert my new room into an impromptu hospital for my relative and the medical people.

^ The secret room with your old belongings could represent memories. Sometimes in my dream, I am reminded of a childhood event, person, or thing that I no longer think about in my day-to-day life.

The vacuum cleaner is an instrument for household cleaning, so I assume the vacuum is some sort of a "cleansing symbol" and that your relative came to seek your advice in terms of how you cleansed yourself of impurities (physical, mental, emotional, etc.). The kidneys act as the body's filtration system, which also symbolized cleansing. The doctor who pointed out the kidney problems could be a symbol of healing, indicating that the relative needed medical treatment, to which you provided the facility in the form of a makeshift hospital room. I wonder if your subconscious is telling you that a close relative/family member may be experiencing some kind of health-related or emotional issues that need to be addressed?

That's very insightful drone :) It's as if secret room is representing something from my childhood that is concealed from me. A repressed memory perhaps?

That's fascinating drone :D. I never made that connection -- broken kidneys and broken vacuum cleaner. They're both cleansing things that are broken in the dream.

I have no idea. As far as I know, none of my relatives are sick atm. But the dream does look like it may have deeper meanings than it first seemed.

Thank-you for your thoughts, drone :)

I was walking down a very black asphalt road and on either side of the road there were men with scythes standing in very tall grass. Every so often one of them would look up at me, nod very politely with a smile, and then continue about "sifting" through the tall grass.

As I kept walking down this road I noticed that there were black "S" shapes writhing in small fires on either side of the road. The men were pulling snakes out of the tall grass, throwing them on the road, covering them in gasoline and lighting them on fire. I hate snakes but something about their very calm demeanor (the men) and the fact that the snakes seemed to be crying as they burned made for a very disturbing dream.

I haven't been able to think of anything else since having this dream.

I was in my old house and I was with some people...they seemed like friends although I have never met them before...we were talking and laughing...it was a good time...they went out the front door and it was left open...I noticed a young man sitting on my steps very upset...out in my front yard were a bunch of guys...I got the impression they were trouble makers and got the young fellow inside...I tried to close the door but the lock was broken...actually he pointed it out...so we tried to fix it and the hoodlums were coming closer...as hard as we tried to fix it it wouldn't work...I then yelled at them to go away and they did except for one who came right into the house...he started pushing this young man around and then I grabbed my cell phone and try to call 911...but the phone was updating and was taking forever...this bully then set his sites on me and I picked up an object to hit him and my arms became like wet noodles and the phone still was up dating as I was franticly trying to call for help...then he came at me trying to hit me and I woke up.

It was frightening even though I wasn't in real danger.

This one was very strange ... I came home from work one afternoon, tired as usual. My teen-aged niece, being on spring break, had invited her entire posse over. She and her friends hung around the house, as though they owned the whole damned place. They were talking and laughing, though I wasn't sure exactly what the hell they were doing--watching TV, surfing the Web, etc. Just when I wanted to have some quiet and relaxing evening, I felt uncomfortable, almost trapped in my own domain, as if I couldn't do anything.

I was really starting to get annoyed at this point, so I marched right outside to tell everyone to get the hell out! Then I realized ...

NO!!! This isn't really a dream! It's happening!

:scream: :scream:

Anything that actually is happening in real life and feel like a nightmare isn't good. :(

I had a dream today I was cooking, cooked a turkey...baked a cake...made some pink and some blue pudding...both tasted like whipped-cream...the people who were enjoying the food were people I never met or seen before...except this guy from General Hospital...he plays Dante on the show...he was helping me cook. That was pretty much it.

I had a dream a couple of days ago. i was making a documentary called "What is wrong with the World". I went to different countries and asked people what they thought was wrong with they country.

I asked people in Italy and many of them came to the conclusion that men dressed wrongly.

I interviewed the President of Iceland who was very charming. He said the biggest problem was dwindling fish stocks.

I interviewed a dictator of some country and he told me his country was perfect in every way.

I got back to Australia and looked at all of my tapes I realised that I couldn't remember what country I was in when I recorded many of the interviews. I kept watching the interviews trying to work out the nationalities of the people who were giving answers. Some I could work out but many I couldn't. For example I think I got the Swiss/German/Austrian interviews all mixed up completely.

^ I love that one! It reads almost like something out of a Monty Python sketch.

I only remember my dreams a few times a year. Last week was one of those times-

I was in this enormous museum and I came to an exhibit with a puffer fish inside of it. For some reason I felt compelled to take the puffer fish out of it's enclosure and try to walk with it out of the museum. As I was carrying the puffer fish I was afraid it was going to bite my fingers and it stuck me with one of it's spines, and I wondered if I might not have been poisoned. As I neared the exit of the museum I began to get nervous and back-tracked towards the puffer's fish tank in order to return it, now feeling very faint and almost certain that I'd been poisoned, and this is where I woke up. :cardie:

Oh, and there was nobody at all in the museum except for me and the puffer fish- the place was positively huge and positively empty.

^ A self-fulfilling prophecy? When you begin to question or doubt yourself, then the bad thing you're expecting really happens. ;)

Last night I had a particularly weird dream, if I can still remember the details. It involved a group of co-workers and anonymous people who were supposed to be my "classmates." (IRL, I recently started a 12-week on-the-job training program, so that might have something to do with the dream.)

At some point, it was break time and I had to use the restroom in the building, which turned out to be a unisex restroom. It was a large room where both men and women could enter, and there were several stalls inside.

Then there was a handsome older man who came to see. He gave me a chain bracelet, which he put on my right wrist, and then we kissed; it was a very nice feeling. He looked exactly like the actor who played Agent Cavanaugh on last night episode of Cold Case.

It became apparent to me that I was in another country (my place of birth) during this time, as I borrowed my dad's old vehicle at some point. I was driving my own car, a VW Passat, but the engine stalled and died. I tried to restart the ignition, but the car key became very soft and almost melted as I turned it. :wtf:

I had this dream I was back in school...I was in a class and I wasn't learning so I had to go to another class and I got lost...then when I found it I couldn't get in.

I really don't care for those dreams.
