The Interpretation of Dreams Thread™!

I sense the presence of another "mystery woman" in your dream, one you're not acquainted or familiar with in real life. It could mean longing for intimacy. The Smoke Monster could be from LOST, and the spider creatures represent fear.

I had another dream involving a girl I never have seen or met before...she was short, blonde and cute...the dream starts off where in a relationship, everything feels normal-real...we are at the beach by a little campfire thingy...everything goes from lovey closeness to weird fast...she accuses me of cheating on her??? She then admits to cheating on me??? She threatens to have me arrested for trying to kill her, even though she is chasing me around with a large knife??? That dream ended with me running away from her into a completely different dream...which I can't really recall.

^ Are you dating anyone at the moment? The presence of an anonymous woman in your dream suggests otherwise, so again I would like to point out the intimacy thing. The conflict--accusations of cheating and threat of violence--might echo your own anxieties for not being (or not wanting to be) in a relationship.

the dream: is like a cavern underwater with the rocks being of electrical in nature in that when I touch them I get shocked like a little statical charges > then as I climb out of the pits of the cavern that is underwater sorta I meet up with people who work there for a living and they seem to have the market cornered on that water, there was like a glassy barrier between the cavern and the water but still sorta like two levels of water and all sorts of animals biting me when i was not getting shocked by touching the cavern itself... ouch errr ack as well.

Hard to decipher that one without looking up dream symbols. It felt like you were in an unfamiliar place, not scary, not bright, but a place of wonder and amazement. The keyword I'm sensing is discovery, which is what you'll probably be doing some or lots of in real life.

I think the dream is because of the tatoo /the first/ tatoo I have ever had and the effects of that .,

I had the weirdest dream last night. I dreamed I was cleaning my house (one that I have never lived in before) when I called myself on the phone. Before I picked up the receiver, the caller ID said it was "ME". And when I answered I told myself that I was running late, I would be there as soon as I could and not to worry. :cardie: I have spent most of the morning trying to figure out what the hell it means. Normally my dreams, crazy or not, don't even phase me but this one is a little haunting. Any thoughts?

It could be your subconscious telling yourself or reminding yourself to go somewhere?

On Saturday morning I woke up from a bizarre dream that had to do with the LOST TV series. It happened in three parts, and I only remember the sketchy details. The weird thing about a movie- or TV-related dream is that I'm often a participant, not just an observer, so I was actually with the cast of LOST.

At some point, some of the Oceanic survivors were on a train when they got hijacked by a group of militants (the Others?). Then back on the island, Jack was the candidate chosen to succeed Jacob to protect the island, and Kate was there with him. He said to Kate, "Give me the mask," which was some kind of energy "mask" that he wore to grant him supernatural powers (e.g., to transform into the Smoke Monster or give him immortality or eternal youth). It was revealed later on that the reason the Oceanics were brought to the island was to send them back to their original destinations (e.g., L.A.). :wtf: Then came the epilogue. It showed what happened to each of the characters when they parted ways. I don't remember what happened to everyone else, but Jack was now working as a chef at a high-end restaurant near the beach, and he had the power to manipulate the earth, e.g., sand, rock, soil. He was also thinking of Kate whom he missed.

Now I don't know what I was smoking the night before, but that was one weird dream.

AstroSmurf, I think your dreams are trying to tell you that you need to get in touch with yourself. Either that or you have multiple personalities. ;)

Drone36929, it would be interesting to see how your dream compares against the real Lost finale.

I'm dropping in because I've noticed a weird series of dreams after recently starting to keep a dream journal. I recently left a job working for a boss that was completely dreadful. These recurring dreams have me going back to work under really odd circumstances.

In the first dream, I was in a restaurant where no one seemed to be working. I took a seat at an empty table and a plate appeared in front of me with a sandwich. I started to eat the sandwich, but that's when a woman came up to me and started yelling at me for taking her table and eating her sandwich.

In the second dream, I was working in a diner for my old boss (ugh) and hoping me that she'll give me my old job back. She ordered me to wait on a table of teenagers who brought their own frozen pizza in order to same money. At the end of my shift, I got a discounted meal and some friends joined me at my table. I got called away, and when I return, I find that my "friends" ate my food while I was gone.

The third dream was last night. I showed up for my shift at an empty restaurant, and the hostess told me that restaurant was offering a 7-8-9 promo: chicken was $7, steak was $10, and beef was $13. It didn't make sense, so I asked her to repeat it and write it down for me, because I was worried about being able to remember it. This time, the deal changed: $7.99 for chicken, $10.99 for steak, and beef for $12.99. This time, I realized that the situation was totally ridiculous and that I had to be dreaming, at which point I woke up.

So, thoughts? Why would I be looking for marketing and finance jobs by day while working as a waitress in my dreams?

^^^ I've had work-related dreams myself, some even recurring on a periodic basis. The details are sketchy but almost always the same (e.g., a very large building with many floors, bathrooms, and elevators; deep, cavernous underground parking; vertical ladders in the stairwell that lead to other floors; elegant hallways and offices; immense corridors, etc.). The weird thing is that none of these details are accurate in real life. For instance, although I work in a nine-story building, it's hardly big, with four main elevators. Sometimes I dream that my department's office has a totally different configuration in terms of the cubicle and room placements.

Now I personally don't believe that those symbols stand for anything. The impression I'm getting from such work-related dreams is that they're mostly summaries of the day's events, as I've mentioned before. I also think that the images in my dreams represent a mishmash of memories and places I've been to, (e.g., hospitals, hotel resorts, etc.)

You mentioned you've been separated from your job recently, which could explain the anxiety or stress you're feeling on a subconscious level, manifested by such images as irate customers, an unpleasant boss, the restaurant venue, etc.

Sounds like "Shatterday". ;)

I dreamt that I was in a foreign land. No idea which country is was. None of the locals could speak English so I was trying to speak to local language using an English/other language dictionary and phrase book. I would try to say a phrase like "Can you tell me where the nearest hotel is" etc but whatever I said came out as something silly and I saw the translation at the bottom of the 'screen'.

Once I said "These apples are made of mud', another time I said "The cow is chasing the ostrich". The locals were trying their hardest to be polite. They were trying to suppress their laughter and making an real effort to understand me. However as the phrases got sillier they could no longer control themselves and started to laugh at everything I said.

All of sudden the silly phrases started to come true. A local bit into an apple and ended up with a mouthful of mud, an ostrich ran by being chased by a cow etc.

The locals shook their heads in bewilderment and then walked away leaving me alone to look at all the silly things that were happening.

Wow, that was surreal, Miss Chicken. Being in a foreign country could signify being in an unfamiliar territory or situation, or embarking on a new experience. The dictionary/language book could represent the tool or the coping mechanism you use in waking life in order to deal with the unfamiliar. The translations and their coming into reality would suggest unintended or unexpected results, yet they were accurate.

You might be right. One of the reasons that I'm reluctant to look for a retail job as a temporary measure is that I'm afraid of losing it with a customer! Plus the situation I left was so bad that I felt I needed time to cool off rather than going straight back.

 That must have been fun! Maybe your subconscious is trying to tell you to be more confident? After all, your "mistakes" in translation weren't really mistakes in the end.

Here's a weird one...

I had my first Star Trek dream in several years... I was the Captain of a middle echelon next gen Starfleet ship. I think we were in drydock. Suddenly she ship went to red alert. I was in engineering and I was pissed. We were in no shape to take this ship into battle. I manually brought the ship back to green status (there was actually a red, yellow and green button for me to do that) while yelling at my crew that we weren't ready. They were clearly annoyed but I was the captain.

Then an admiral called me very upset over what I had done ordering me to the "fight". I yelled at him, telling him we were in no condition to go into battle much less leave drydock. I really drerssed him down saying "What the hell is wrong with you, don't you realize our condition?!"

I think I won the argument...

I can guess the interpretation... My life got turned upside down recently, after several years of stability I'm about to move to a new city, search for a new job and house... Stressful at the best of times to be sure...

Weird though, just weird. :wtf:

I got a weird one. Had this dream about a week or so ago. I dreamed that Wil Wheaton broke into my house and i confronted him with a sword. Apparently, he's a total bad ass, since he grabbed my sword and just pulled the blade out with his bare hands. My family ended up hog tying him and we threw him out of the house that way.

Maybe you don't like authority figures? I don't know. I also sense not wanting to be rushed.
