The Inhumans Marvel/IMAX

yvt1b5V
Just to be clear: Lockjaw is the *only* reason I'm going to check this out at all at this point.
In an ideal world, this show would be called 'The Adventures of Lockjaw: And I Guess Some Inhumans Too, But Not The Boring Silent One'

Or just make Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers instead!

Mm, it really does look like the most un-Imax thing I'd ever want to go to an Imax to see.

I'm hoping there's a more expansive (better) trailer out later..

This early in the process, most of the digital effects won't be done yet, so the trailer can't feature them. That's not uncommon. Remember the trailers for the Power Rangers movie? When the teaser trailer came out, people complained that it looked more like The Breakfast Club or something, because there were no Zords or monsters and only a brief glimpse of a Ranger costume. But the later trailers did show all that stuff, because by then the digital effects were ready.

It's not just the effects. Sets, costumes, camera work... none of it says "see this in the cinema".

IMAX is a format that boasts greater detail, and there's very little detail in any of these shots to take advantage of that. Spending more money on an expensive format to film in just leaves less money for stuff that ends up in the shot, and considering the limited budget the whole thing just seems like a pointless exercise

You suppose they'll leave Lockjaw as an animal, or go with the reveal he's an Inhuman who got really mutated by the Terrigen?

As I understand it, that "reveal" was undone a long time ago. John Byrne wrote a 1983 story where Gorgon and Karnak told the Thing that Lockjaw was an Inhuman who turned into a dog, but in 1991, Peter David revealed that they'd just been playing a practical joke on Ben. After all, given that everyone treats Lockjaw like a pet animal, it would be way too creepy and disturbing if he were actually human. There are some continuity and logic problems with PAD's retcon, but as far as I know, Lockjaw's been consistently treated as a dog for the past quarter-century. And screen adaptations generally tend to stay consistent with the current versions of characters.

I suspect they'll leave it unexplained. However, Black Bolt #5 is purporting to give a definitive answer.

It wasn't a practical joke though, Lockjaw talking was to stop Quicksilver from recklessly using the Terrigen Mists to mutate his daughter with Crystal.

Roel Reine is known for making things flashy. You can definitely see his style in the trailer with a camera that just won't stay still. I've only seen a sizzle reel of his, but I've heard he's not great at directing acting. If there are acting concerns, I could see him being partially to blame. That being said, we don't have enough to go on based on this.

If Mount does deliver, it'll be in subtle ways in meaty acting scenes, not something you'd see in quick trailer action cuts.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was something like his work on Black Sails that got Jeph Loeb interested in him.
