The Inhumans Marvel/IMAX

Lost did a pretty good job of using Honolulu for LA.

Yeah, but if the whole series had been set in LA, rather than just a few flashbacks, they probably wouldn't have filmed it in Hawai'i. Because that would be a monumental waste of Hawai'i.

So I would say "let's see how they look in motion on my screen", but then when I read the article I see that the effects are not finished yet (especially Medusa), so we probably won't be seeing a trailer anytime soon. We're going to have to live with that picture for a while.

Good point. Where is Attilan usually located in the comics, or at least originally since I think it's moved around some? I'm wondering if it's out in the Pacific in this version, and they end up in Hawaii because it's the closest civilized place for them to go.

According to the Marvel Database, originally the North Atlantic, then the Himalayas, then the Blue Area of the Moon, then the former site of Atlantis, then the Himalayas again, then the Blue Area again, then hovering over the Kree capital of Hala, then hovering over New York City, then crashed into the Hudson River where its ruins were turned into New Attilan.

...Oh dear. I hope that's just an unflattering photo, but everything about that looks really cheap. Like Smallville bare minimum effort cheap.
EW seems to consistently have terrible photos. Aside from Medusa, I'm OK with these, but that one looks bad. I think the biggest concern I have is this is on IMAX, so it needs to look high quality.

I agree that this photo isn't particularly flattering, but I'm not really worried. This is just a rough, practical image without any touch-ups. You'd be amazed what they can do in post-production.

I was shocked to learn that despite Chadwick Bozeman wearing
a perfectly good and practical Black Panther costume in Civil War, they completely replaced the costume in post-production.

I saw a close-up on Medusa, and from the way the orange color of her hair bled onto her skin around the hairline, I think it was photoshopped. Which makes me suspect it's just a placeholder for the CGI hair because they haven't worked the bugs out of it yet. Although I wonder, then, why they didn't mock up something more voluminous for the photo.

That's not a flattering image...lol.

But I was curious, as I am not familiar with the comics at all, are these royal Inhumans descended from ancient royal Inhumans from Earth and then moved away, starting their own society, and now coming...back? Or were they just regular Inhumans that moved off Earth and then named themselves the royal family of their group? Were there many Inhuman factions back in the day, and the one on Earth with Jia Ying was just another? Do they come from a whole planet of Inhumans? I really don't understand the dynamics of this royal family business since my only reference point of Inhumans is from AoS. I know the show people are saying that there won't be direct ties to AoS, but are they going to at least be like...'hey man, why are there so many humans going through terrigenesis on Earth now??' or something to that affect?

These Inhumans are the royal family, of all Inhumans. They've lived on Earth, moved to the Moon, back to Earth and now they're spread out. Black Bolt and Medusa were husband and wife at one point, now they're not, don't know how the show is going to depict them.

Are they like a long-lived species? Or are they like regular aged people for how they look? If so, have they only been on the moon for like a generation or have they been on the moon for several? Please forgive the string of questions, I'm just really curious how that fits with the Inhuman mythos that AoS has created. Would Jiaying and her Inhumans have acknowledged them as their royal family and follow them, for instance?

The Inhuman royal family is from Earth. They originally lived in a secret, hidden city called Attilan, and the resemblance of that name to Atlantis is probably not a coincidence (in real-world terms, that is). They were one of the many groups in the Marvel Universe that lived in their own isolated realms unknown to the rest of humanity, along with other places like the Savage Land, K'un Lun, and of course Atlantis itself. Eventually they became known to the outside world and interacted with it more regularly, especially in the wake of the Terrigen outbreak that led to the creation of new Inhumans (or Nuhumans) all over the world -- including fan favorite Kamala Khan, the current Ms. Marvel.

It looks like the MCU is going a similar route -- Attilan has been cut off from the world and the royal family gets expelled from it. Though whether they'll acknowledge the Inhuman outbreak in Agents of SHIELD is unclear, since this show seems to be striking its own course.

NuHumans are what they refer to as the newest generation of Inhumans. They're still Inhuman, but didn't undergo the same process leading up to Terrigenesis. They were just innocent civilians living their own life then all of a sudden a Terrigen Mist cloud appears and they become Inhuman whereas the "old" way was preparing people to become Inhuman, teaching them about Inhumans, training, etc. etc.
