The Hipster Thread.

Also, I'd love to carry a messenger bag because my wallet makes me lean to the left, and it hurts to sit on it. I wish guys could carry purses without being ostracized (especially around here) because it would be so nice not to have to sit on a brick every time.

Not quite sure what a messenger bag is but I did have a satchel bag I took around for several years, it was very convenient to have.

Ahh, then yeah it's a messenger bag, only it's a lot simpler in design to all of those.

Hipsters don't bother me unless they're literally bothering me about something. I've been called a hipster before, because I play the ukulele and wear the glasses they like to wear, but the ukulele is because I want to play the ukulele, it's a sweet, quiet instrument. I wear these glasses because when I got them 5 years ago they were the cheapest frames of the bunch.

As for the rest of my clothes, I'm a nerd who has no strong sense of fashion, and so I apparently drift in and out of hipster concepts without realizing it. I shop at the Goodwill and Salvation Army stores because they're dirt cheap, and I still believe paying $25 for a pair of blue jeans is insane.

My beard exists as it does because I can't be arsed to shave all of the time.
All this sounds like classic hipster denial.

I haven't used a wallet since I was a kid. They're just a pain to carry around. I keep money and cards in my front right pocket (small change in the little change pocket - that's what that thing is for).

It makes getting mugged a little awkward.

^Only hipsters carry pocket watches these days. Or maybe it's circled back around, and using a pocket watch pocket for a pocket watch as originally intended is blasé once more.

Judging someone to be in classic hipster denial is exactly what a hipster would do.

Nothing about this makes sense to me.
Me neither. Cards are much easier to lose if they're not in a kind of wallety thing.

Wallets in my experience are already large, bulky things even before you fill them with cards, coins and various receipts you never get around to clearing out. A full loaded wallet is at least an inch thick and quite heavy. That bulky, heavy object is inconvenient in terms of comfort and balance, and it's also easy to lose or forget. OTOH it's very convenient for muggers and thieves to have all your important stuff in one neat package.

I have never lost a card. It's either handily available in my pocket (without the intermediate step of fishing out and opening the wallet), or it's in my little card collection at home (if I don't use it often).

This is why I only carry two cards with me: my driver's license and my debit card. I have a special mini-wallet that only holds two cards, it's ideal for that purpose. Most of my daily purchases are put on my debit card; only time I ever need a credit card, I carry it long enough to make a specific purchase which I know of in advance, then I leave the card at home when I'm done.

(And I never use cash at home; the only time I do use it is when I go on vacation.)

I'm a minimalist with my wallet as well as my house. I mean, why would I ever need to actually carry around things like my Social Security card? It always floors me when I hear of people carrying those. That's like "Identity Theft A-Go-Go", really. Just memorize your damn SSN and leave that card in a safe deposit box or something.

The sheer amount of META in this thread is making my head hurt...

J, if your wallet is making you list to port, how the hell many cards do you have in it? :wtf:

Let's see...

7 Debit/Credit/Bank cards
1 Ordination License
1 Insurance Card
1 Driver's License
3 Club/Savings Cards
1 Diabetic Information Card
1 Skyline Chili Anytime Rewards Card

A few small paper receipts.

Did you all see the "Star Trek" themed Man/Woman Bags featured below the "TrekToday Headlines" to the right?>>>

Very stylish and oh, so tempting, but where I am currently living, not so much a fashion statement as an invitation to an ass-whoopin'...too bad, they look very cool and useful!!!
