The Guild - Do You Wanna Date My Avatar (Felicia Day)

I was already in love with her after watching "The Guild", but that music video just put it over the top.

I play WoW, and after reading about The Guild many times on wow.com, seeing links to it on Youtube, and hearing guildies talk about it, I finally watched it...and I think it's cleverly written, well-acted and much better than I expected.

I particularly like how the one dude has his computer in his kitchen and is simultaneously cooking and playing in every shot. For no reason. Nonsensical stuff like that is funny to me.

It seems like a lot of the hate toward the show -- and Felicia Day -- comes from people who haven't watched it. I can understand that.

There's no shortage of women who inject themselves into the whole geek scene because they know they'll be much bigger fish in a much smaller pond, so to speak. And many of them do seem to play it up in an attempt to get their own legions of nerdy admirers.

I'm particularly reminded of Jane Miyuki posting a long "review" of a new vibrating video game controller on her "girl gamer" blog, complete with a series of photos of her stripping down to her panties and using the controller for...other purposes, then turning around and writing a long essay about how girl gamers aren't taken seriously. Or Whitney Butts writing a long screed in the Escapist about how guys treat women differently in online game worlds, while posing -- in the same article -- for a series of Myspace-angle photographs where she looked like a brooding Suicide Girl.

But Felicia Day seems to be the real deal. Only someone with a true appreciation and love of all things geeky would be capable of providing such great writing for a series like The Guild, and she manages to pull it off with the right blend of comedy and warmth.

Should follow her on twitter. I totally believe she is a real gamer girl. As oppose to these G4 broads who just read cue cards.

I just recently discovered The Guild and watched the first two seasons one night on DVD with my roommate. We both loved it! I've never done online gaming before, but it was hilarious to me anyway (though I probably missed some of the in jokes). Great series!

Its a web based comedy about a group of WOW players.

It's about a group of fantasy MMORPG players, yes, but the game they play was never named on the show.

I was about to complain that this show isn't available on DVD, but then I found it on Amazon and ordered it instead.

As a member of a pretty "srs" progression guild in World of Warcraft I've wanted to see this for a while but I can't stand watching television in a web browser. At $10 per season I figure it's worth a blind buy.

If you have an XBOX 360, you can download all the episodes for free and watch on your TV.

Never heard of Felicia Day or The Guild. I just saw the video and it was very catchy and sexy. Then I checked out the first five episodes and I'm hooked enough to want to check out the rest.

Yeah, like the series and especially the sudden leap in visual and sound quality at the point of season 2 -- i'm guessing that's when they got backing by Microsoft.

Season 3 finished recently -- guess we're going to be seeing more of will wheaton's character based on that ending!

Yes, Felicia. I would like to date your avatar. Repeatedly. Again and again.

Felicia is also in The Legend of Neil and Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, online-wise.

On TV she was one of the Potentials in the final season of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and more recently she was in the DVD-only episode of Dollhouse.

^ I haven't seen any of those, although I do plan to catch up on Dollhouse at some point. As for the rest, who knows.

I'm looking at her IMDb entry and it looks like I have seen her in a number of things, I just don't remember her.
